RE: STEEMSTEM || PROMOTING SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS ON STEEMIT

in #utopian-io7 years ago

Hi @jingis07

As mentioned in a couple of the comments below, there are a few issues with this contribution.

From a high level perspective, we regard an analysis to be:

"Data analysis, also known as analysis of data or data analytics, is a process of inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling data with the goal of discovering useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting decision-making." Source: "Data Analysis" on Wikipedia

From my perspective, I see little of the above in the contribution and it leans heavily towards a data visualization - or a report.

The work needs to contain at least some form of inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling with a goal to provide useful information for the open source project.

Since the subset of Steem accounts looked at is small, there is a risk that the community may be doing their own analysis and reporting on how the votes/delegations/etc are being utilized. And this is the case with @steemstem.

In our guidelines, single or few account reporting is out of scope, unless there is a relevance to Steem. It could be argued that since @steemstem report on there progress, the findings above hold little relevance or interest to them.

In regards to @justtryme90's comment regarding @yu-steem, a look at the blockchain suggests that this account has voted on a variety of content, not just science related articles. E.g.:

https://steemit.com/sevendaybeerchallenge/@svemirac/seven-day-beer-challenge-day-1-actually-8th-consecutive-day-of-drinking-starting-with-the-least-favourite-kind-of-beer

https://steemit.com/portraitcontest/@miroslavrc/portrait-photography-of-my-sister

https://steemit.com/art/@inka8/mushrooms

In fact, there seem to be a vast number of posts voted with this account that are not related to 'science, technology, engineering, and mathematics'.

@lemark's comment further pushes the point that the author accounts regarding steemstem related posts is likely to be off. Perhaps if the category or tags were used to narrow down the results relating to 'steemstem' directed contributions, and comment votes were ignored, this would improve matters.

I think the key point is that although the contribution is reasonably well structured and presented, it is more of a report and lacks analysis and useful information which the community could then use in the future.

If you wish for more information or which to discuss your plan for future contributions to avoid potential disappointment, please visit the @utopian-io discord from the link provided below.

Thanks

Asher
