I grown up as a farmer, a lofty profession that taught me the secrets of such a long term business. So read carefully and put your mind in learning mode.

(Not me :P)

This is the #1 investment to succeed in your steemit career...

Be a wise cowboy

Hence is hard to admit, I have to be honest, my family was full of foolish cowboys. We inherited a huge land but it produced just enough to eat. We only produced enough to survive because we were not open to learn. Maybe unintentionally but now that I know how things should work, the only thing that comes to my mind is: we were pretty ignorant! Anyways, when life was hard and we got some money, something pushed us to get an eventual "good weekend", soon we were back to deal with money issues. What a terrible mistake!

The right way to manage a long term investment is not too complicated actually, we just need to be wise intentionally.

Do you want to NOT be a foolish? I guess so, keep reading!

Kill the cow at the right time (or maybe just sell her...)

Once upon a time a cowboy bought two cows. After a year, one was stolen and the other had to be sold because of an urgency.

Total failure! Let's fix the story...

Once upon a time a cowboy bought one cow and kept the rest of the money in the bank. As the cow grows there are different challenges that were hopefully fixed:

  • Get a good stockyard
  • Keep the cow safe from cattle thiefs
  • Keep the cow healthy
  • Keep the cow happy fatty
  • Find a good bull for the cow
  • Scale up the stockyard
  • Keep the cash flow

In short: You must know your business!

After years of service, the cow is ready for retirement, the cowboy can choose to kill her, to sell her or maybe just keep her as a pet. Yet the herd keeps growing, the cowboy needs money to build a bigger stockyard so you know... a fatty cow is sold! That is the right time to kill the cow: when you need more liquid capital and only then!

Pay your bills from the milk

Growing a single cow is not a fulltime job, so the cowboy initially had to work for somebody else in order to have enough money to buy the first cow and to rent an small stockyard. Maybe he shared room with the cow. Milk came only when the cow got her first little baby and the wise cowboy always prioritized the little cow needs, only the remaining milk was sold and the money used to cover the herd expenses.

How about money in the bank?

That was the last option! Money in the bank is the cowboy's backup capital, used only for emergencies and replenished ASAP. Also wisely managed to grow from interest and savings from eventual good seasons.

How does all this applies to your steemit career?

Be a wise cowboy! Keep your STEEM POWER herd growing and don't leave your fulltime job till your estimated weekly payout can cover your bills. Next target is to pay your bills only from your STEEM POWER interest. Guess you get the rest of the story from here.

And the cowboy got older and richer...

THE END.
