Spain - Malaga
I went to Malaga with my friends yesterday. Malaga is 30 minutes, or as a particular friend said, 31 minutes by train from Benalmadena. Malaga is supposedly the 6th largest city of Spain after Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville and Zaragoza.
Read about Malaga here.
As with any city centre, this is where the big brands make their presence felt. So, if you are into shopping, you would like it here.
Then there are the museums, churches and art galleries – if you are into that sort of thing.
The Malaga Marina
We had a spot of lunch at one of the cafes and then we went to a art Exhibition at "Center Pompidio Malaga", which is near the Marina.
This is the slope that leads up to the Roman Ruins. As you can see, it is quite a steep climb. My friends, who are getting on, decided that they will give it a miss. I see no reason to go all the way up there to see some ruins. So, I didn't bother either.
Malaga is home to many famous poets and artists. Pablo Picasso was one of them.
Statue of Pablo Picasso.
According to my friend, there is a story behind this monument. It was said that Spain gave France the little piece of land as a gesture of goodwill for assistance rendered by the French in times of difficulties. So, now the little piece of land within the fence belongs to France. Which means that one can actually be in France without going to France. I don't know how true or accurate this piece of information is.
Otherwise, you can do what I did. Have a tour of the city, and in between the walking, have a spot of lunch, a drink here, and a coffee there. Find a nice restaurant or nice café – no lack of these in Malaga – and just relax and people-watch, until you are ready to explore another corner of the city.
A video - There are many cafes where you can sit and have a snack, or a drink, and watch the world go by.Sometimes, there are street performances like this 10-member Mexican band.
A video - My friend was over the moon, (helped along by the Gin & Tonics and brandy), when the performer came to perform her request.I enjoyed the day – nice day, nice company, and I am on holiday. What more could one ask for?
