Hello People,
I am 41 years old and have been struggling with drugs most of my life. I am now as of Today 9 months clean!! It seems hard for me to believe being the kind of addict I was. I used to live on the street, eat ou of dumpsters, OD quite regularly, since our drug supply is tainted with Fentanyl and Carfentanyl. These drugs are meant to tranquilize an elephant.
1 grain you get high, 2 you OD, 3 you die. It is incredibly serious issue here on the downtown eastside of Vancouver. 4 people a day are dying due to this tainted drug supply. I have lost countless friends and 2 girlfriends in the last 20 years. The bodies keep piling up and it is left to people like me with a narcan kit to go out for 3-4 hours a night to walk the alleys, stairwells, places out of eye shot to try to find the ones that have slipped through the cracks and need to be resuscitated.
On average I save between 4-6 people a night with my narcan kit and my C.P.R and my cell phone to call in the paramedics to get these people to the hospital, most make it, but a few die. It is very emotionally draining to work on someone to end up losing them because I got to them to late.

This is my kit, which is restocked every evening at insite before I got out for the evening
In this kit is 3 vanishing point syringes, 3 bottles of naloxolone, alcohol wipes, a barrier for mouth to mouth resuscitation, and some sterile gloves. I always grab 6 extra bottle of naloxolone and extra syringes. **Some overdoses require 3-4 shots and mouth to mouth before you can get them breathing again.

It is a war out there, and the drug dealers don't seem to care that they are killing of there own clients.

I am coming to all of you steemians for support in any way possible, such as upvotes, delegations, any means to beef up my account so I can get more supplies and spend more time educating and following up on the people I help, and to provide clothing, blankets, food, water, especially sleeping bags. We are going into the cold season and you would be appalled at the amount of people you see sleeping right there on the bare sidewalk no blanket, no sleeping bag. Just the hard cold ground.

I apologise for the crude means in which this is written, I would love to able to make a nice pretty post that I see others make, but that just isn't me yet. But what you read above is me. I help my community, I save lives along with probably maybe aother 100 other people doing the same thing. The E.M.S services are over burdened and without people like us, the death toll would be alot higher. Here is a few pictures of some people I talk to and have helped throughout the past 9 months.

This picture is 1/1000th of what you see down here, it is truly sad and hurtful because you want to do more. But giving someone the chance to live another day. Is a great gift

This getleman does not look very happy, but I can assure you if he had 10$ and you needed 5$ he would give it to you, unfortunately he passed away a month ago from a drug Overdose.
