Minnow Guide: Should We Ask An Upvote For An Upvote
A deep understanding into how votes work will help you answer the above question. However, one needs to understand how voting in steemit differs from voting in other avenues.
While upvoting in steemit aims at spreading love and also directly finance the post and the author, in other avenues it is a give and take avenue.
The vote you give in steemit carries with it the power you have in the blockchain.
The power comes with steem power and how recharged your vote is.
Upvotes do differ in weight due to many factors.

The Steem Power
Every stemian has varied steem power depending on how much has been invested in the orgnisation.
Stemians with more steem power have more upvote weight than those with less steem power.

The Percentage Vote
Did you know that each vote you make depletes 2% of your voting power?
The more you vote is the more you deplete that power.
Finally you end up with an empty gun.
At times we just continue to fire empty guns which produce sound and no bullets.
These empty firing may create no impact on the upvoted article but create relationship in the site.
It happens when fully charged, once you click the upvote button, a pop-up will show you an option where to choose the percentage you can vote for the post.
The percentage varies with how much the post appeals to you.
Most voters with a vote of about 0.001 may not realize the percentage they give in one vote.
The Charge In Your Vote
The more you vote is the more you drain your charge.
If each vote is 2% then it will deplete after a period determined by how full the recharge is.
You will take 50 upvotes to deplete 100% charge.
Upvoters get recharged 20% per day and it will take about 5 days to have full recharge.
The Upvoter
Different upvoters in steemit have different vote worth.
Whales have more voting worthiness than dolphins and minnows.
Do More Votes Increase Earning?
The answer here is 'yes or no.'
It depends more on the voter, steem power and how loaded the recharge of the voter is.
This surely explains why your earnings renain stagnant as more and more upvotes are poured into it.
Something magic however happens when a certain voter appears and does the upvoting.
It also matters what percentage the voters give you.

How Will You Attract Charged Upvoters?
There is no set rules here.
Just make your hand and head a producer of quality stuff.
Post frequently with the hope of catching a charged whale, dolphin or minnow on your posts.

How Many Upvotes Can One Upvote Daily?
We tackled that before. As many times as you have the charge.
You can continue firing empty bullets but they may affect your earnings.

How Long Does It Take To Recharge?
If you are charged 20% daily then it will be five days.
20*5=100%
Do We Have A Downvote Button In Steemit?
The answer is, No!
There is only an Upvote button and a flag button.
However, you can downvote a person if you upvote and remove the vote by clicking on the like and removing the vote.
It is not good to downvote as you make both the post and author suffer concequences.
How To Curate A Post?
You have to be the first to upvote it.
Resteem it to monitor its progress and create its awareness.

very informative and a big help for newbie, however..i would rather have a resteem than having an upvote from minnows. resteeme helps your article or post spread out to other fee, feed of your friends -> friends. While upvote is just there...
Agree with you @bobiecayao. Get to be reesteem is the best. However newbies like us really need upvotes... it really keep the spirit up when you feel dow at certain times.

A flag is a downvote, and downvotes are just as important in determining a post's value as upvotes are.
You also didn't answer the question of whether one should upvote just because someone else upvoted them... The answer is no. Trading upvotes is gaming the system for profit, which violates the guidelines set forth in the Steem Whitepaper.
