There was some questions raised by some group of users on telegram on steemit progress been the fact that they are new on steemit. Many send me PM about best time to upvote on steemit in order to earn big curator reward.

Seriously speaking I don't follow any rule on upvoting a post, I do upvote post base on how I feel about post and my upvote (though is low for now) has been on 100% since I retrieve my account back after my robbery attack in November 2017.

In the beginning of my steemit journey in June 2017 there was a lesson learnt on best time to upvote which I got on discord from a user not remember his username because then I did not real understand the flow on discord.

Lets get started on best time to upvote.

Firstly let's familiarise ourselve with two rewards on posting: Author Reward and Curator Reward.

Author Reward is simply a reward generated for the owner of a post after he receive upvote from either from his followers, steemit users or self upvote.

Curator Reward: This is a reward receive by the upvoted on a post and your reward is a determinant of two things: Timing and payout.

Before I talk about timing the Reward between Author and a curator is 3:1 ratio which is 75% Author Reward to 25% Curator Reward.

This is very easy to recognise but the calculation not stop at 75% and 25% Reward. Timing is also applicable(Time you upvote is also part of the factor to be considered).

If an upvote come from you immediately after a post is being posted let say from 1second to 2minutes and 59seconds, all rewards goes to the author (100%) meaning you have nothing in return, you only have advantage from those that will upvote later. If you are lucky a whale or dolphin upvote the post after you, your reward will be base on the user upvote after you not from the Author Reward.

Many advise is that up voting thia moment is not advisable or not a good idea but I will say if you are newbies don't vote between this period.

Second timing is after 3mims of the post. It is 90% of curation reward that go to the author while 10% goes to you as an upvote. This will continue until the next timing reach which is 15minutes or author percentage also can decrease in proportion to next timing scheduled.

In 15minutes timing, it is 50/50% reward between curator and author and if you upvote as at 27minutes the reward shared is 90% curator reward as against 10% Author Reward. The only period you get 100% reward as a curator is after 30minutes.

All this informations are applicable to both post upvote and comment upvote. Should you upvote a post to get 100% curation reward go for 30minutes after post.

Also, their are time in which all curator reward may have been shared before your upvote comes in but I don't think I have experience such since I have been up voting on steemit.

For me, the most important thing is when you sighted a post you love and interesting to you, shower your love on such post either by upvote, comment or resteem, appreciation might come from the author to you in different ways.

1. The author may upvote your comment you earn mire than what you have released as a result of your upvote.

2. The author may like your comment and start to follow your account and check your blog thereby upvote some of your posts.

3. The author may sent you some token and even show you some ways to be successful on steemit.
