@EcoDesigns Trainees and Earth Rangers learn how to make Pillows from textile waste

The trainees of @ecodesigns and some members of the Earth Rangers of the Steemit Action Summer Holiday Program, SASH-Program have acquired skills to make different designs of pillows from textile waste as well as made some special pillows for kids. The training which focused in the production of pillows from textile waste was attended by 17 trainees of @ecodesigns and Earth Rangers. They were trained to make special pillows for children because;

1. There are no children pillows in our local markets
2. Children need pillows to raise their heads so that if they choke while sleeping, the fluids will not go up to their heads.
3. Babies need special cylindrical pillows to support them to sleep sideways especially when they are young and these kind of pillows are not found in the market
4. To reduce the amount of textile pollution in the city of Bamenda
   
   

At the end of the training, our Square Ecopillows for children measured 35cmx35cm and weighed 0.5 pounds with 0.3 pounds of the total weight being textile offcuts whereas the Cylindrical Ecopillows for children measured 40cmX20cm and weighed 0.6 pounds with 0.4 pounds of the total weight being textile waste.

A small pillow which is not a kids pillow of the same size like our Ecopillows sells at $1.5 but our upcycled Ecopillows for kids sells at $0.9. the @ecodesigns ecopillows are cheap, comfortable and affordable for every one and with these pillows, children can feel the luxury and comfort of using pillows.

1. For every pillow we make, we stop 0.3 pounds of textile waste from getting into the environment, hence reduce the amount of green house gases that accelerate climate change.
