March Distribution Update for the Food Bank

It has been a quiet month for March this year as most of the volunteers are actually out-stationed, but despite the fact we were still very blessed with a handfull to avail themselves to come over to help.

This month our supply is lower than most of the months especially the festive season of February. We could only obtain just this much with the available funddings to support 197 families acrosss Klang Valley up till East Malaysia highlands (for the aboriginal families)

On Saturday, with a handful of us, took us about 3 hours to get ready for distribution; and we have repacked rice and potatoes so that relevant families will get relevant portions.

So far we have increased to 1.5kg of potatoes and onions for outreach families as we realised that they needed it just enough for a family of 6-7 with 5kg rice.

We remained with 1 liter oil as we support as they do not need that much and we discourage deep fried food as most Asian food does.

With the aid of CSR we managed to obtain enough dates flavoured UHT milk to be distributed to families, and that gives an extra boost for kids for extra nutrient at least for the first week of the month.

We are hoping to source a little more so that we can bless the out reach maybe 2L of UHT milk for families with kids in the future, but that truly depends on the supply as we still have 9 rehab centers to support, which is very good for them because nutriets like these could help them to recover from the lack due to drug abuse.

On first Sunday of the month, as usual we distributed packed resources to families especially the church outreaches.

Most of these families only have about 250 - 300 USD a month's wage and they have a lot of kids and elderly to support. And most of these families the head of the house are unwell.

Besides family groups, we also have elderly folks who are no longer able to work are in our distribution lists as well, and they can come as far as the edge of the city, from the small towns and villages.

Even how scarce our resources are this month, we still give thanks for what we have. We are praying hard for a freezer and a cooler so that we can collaborate with more bakeries in the future who will be able to donate their unsold breads over to help children homes.
