WHAT!?!?! You Want to Educate YOUR OWN CHILD!?!?!? *GASP*! (Navigating Unschooling in Japan)

in #unschooling6 years ago (edited)

A half-talk, half-rant on how backwards and brainwashed society in general has come to be regarding kids and learning, and the untold treasures and merits found within the natural, sensible concepts of unschooling, lifelong learning, and parental responsibility.

Sort:

How dare you attempt to stop your children from becoming boring mindless drones, conforming to a system determined to beat the creativity out of them whilst becoming increasingly fascistic, predatory and control freakish about every aspect of their lives.
It’s your duty as an endentured tax slave to produce more little tax slaves to pay off the debts you couldn’t pay off in your lifetime.
What kind of parent are you!? 😂

Any one who doesn’t realise this is a joke, please, please don’t have children!

Not to mention the fact that almost everything they teach is school now is lies and programs designed to brainwash. Teachers have no choice but to follow the curriculum that is layed out for them, especially in public schools. Resteemed

If I have the authority to educate my own child, i'd rather be the one to educate them, because most teacher today are the product of the Government propaganda, we can put them to private that would be my second option, the way we teach our children should not be force we can teach them where to learn and let them figure out what to learn.

Amen to that!!

It's all messed up. Seriously. Fucking. Messed. Up.

I was largely home/unschooled, mostly in Europe — and it was certainly a hassle for my parents even in the 1960's and 1970's. And the judgment from their peers was often the weirdest shit (according to my mom, many years later) like "Aren't you worried he won't be able to read and write, and do math?"

It's that attitude that often makes me roll my eyes... it's like there's this public perception that NOT sending your kid to a public school somehow = "raised by wolves."

Now, I'm not sure schools were ever places of learning; perhaps they were alwaysa sort of glorified babysitting service. I don't know.

i agree with everything you said! the schooling today is a conspiracy. they get the kids really really early so they can brainwash the shit out them, use them later as mindless drones and taxable income while being happy watching american idol...

My sister home schooled both of here children and they are both highly intelligent and loving caring parents with kids of their own. My nephew started his own business and is very successful. My niece landed a high paying job with the airlines and is making big bucks. A lot more charter schools are popping up now here on the Island and are using alternative methods for teaching their students. They seem to be much better than the public schools.

well-said! it's really so!
school is considered to be like the only possible way of studying, and people are just shocked when they hear about unschooling. They compare it with jungle upbringing when a kid will be limited in knowledge and skills.

Looking forwards to the day when the norm is to home school or at least use an alternative to the corrosive system we are currently forced into. My daughter is 11 and her last parents evening was like an interigation. I'm there to check how they are teaching my child and then they go switch the tables and ask me "So...erm...how is everything at home, is your daughter happy?"
WTF! "Erm, how's your home life you nosey bitch. You and the husband still rattling the headboard"?

Schools are purely about indoctrination and in the uk we now have Telly screens in the playground. Most of the vids are innocent and talk about road safety and bullying. But the school receive a locked file from Anomoly(the company behind the product) and it is uploaded automatically. The videos are sponsored by Oxfam the UN and other dirty tricksters alike. The vids are the usual global warming guilt trip with starving kids and it basically goes on to blame the children for not turning the bedroom light off at night. So fucked up and I have taken it up with my school. I am fortunate enough to have an ally in the school office and she spent all weekend finding out how to block the files. She was succesful and for us at least the brainwashing has been moderated. Good luck with your sons education and I applaud how you operate(Maybe calm down a little though, before you do another video. Like you said, these people will destroy the family home on a whim so you flipping them the bird on social media might not be too wise in the current circumstances.) Big respect and if you are interested I will drop you a link about the Anomoly screens

Lol. Yep. It’s downright backwards. A perversion of natural order.

I had to give the busybodies “the finger” at least once, but your advice is duly noted. I will try to calm down a bit before the next upload.

Glad to know we are not alone in this thing, and yes, I’d be glad to know more about the screens.

lol emotion is good sometimes too and I suppose you have to show them who's boss sometimes. Maybe we should all do one big f**k-you video-mash? Best advice I was ever given was not to register your kids in the first place. Sounds good to me as there are easier targets out there so you get left alone.
Take care bud. Here is the link and it isn't a reassuring read. This shows who is actually teaching our children in gov schools. http://www.anomalygroup.co.uk/anomaly_services.html

I believe in unschooling (homeschooling) or letting your child(ren) decide what they are interested in. The public or government school system is skewed to produce unhappy drones. I remember as a teenager how many of my age group were sort of wandering around wondering what they should do next. They would not be able to think outside the box if their lives depended on it (and I am a lot older than you). People have no business butting into what you do inside your family unit just like they have no business poking around your domain (home).

I was raised in the public school system and had all the creativity and curiosity beat out of me very early on. It didn't help my parents were Chinese and further beat into me about why education is everything and if you don't study hard in school, you'll just be a bum on the streets. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and I'm dumber now than ever. My application to any real world situation is terrible and yes, I can't think outside the box.

I have a kid now and seriously considering homeschooling.

So sorry you had this terrible experience. Now you can go ahead and decide for yourself what you would like to learn. You can "unlearn" what you were taught. I did. And yes, look into homeschooling. You won't regret it.

This sounds like Sweden!
The Swedish government have made it conveniently cheap to put your child in kindergarten, this is so both parents can go to work.

Because of this it's now the norm in Sweden to dump your child when they are just 1yrs old.

When we told people that we didn't do this to our kids they all look in horror, and say shit like "but your children will be loners"

Imagine their reaction when we told them we will not be sending them to school either.

Harriet Tubman said: "I freed a thousand slaves. I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves."

Great post Brother!

ha, the same situation in my family!
I didn't send my kid to the kindergarten, and all around think I'm just crazy and I am a maniac mom.
Absurd! Why must I trust to unfamiliar people in kindergartens? How can I be sure my baby is ok and cared well? There're so many stories when babies are just mess for kindergarten teachers...
It's a long story, I will make a post about this maybe.. My mom worked there in the past, and she knows all the truth inside, it's one more reason for my reject of kindergartens..

Unfortunately I can't watch all of the video as it keeps lagging (not dtube's fault, but bad and slow connection in Ireland...). But I do understand the frustration. I've been harassed by CPS here in Ireland for some time now, all because they don't want to understand how unschooling works and because I don't jump through the hoops they put in front of me. They are even trying to get me to send my youngest to pre-school...because 'he needs friends his own age' while he's only 3.5 years old and there is no where a law in the Irish law book that says we have to send them anywhere before they're 6 years old! I'm getting sick of it.... so sick that I'm looking for other options (countries where homeschooling is not seen as a thorn in the side of politicians...)

God, I’m so sorry to hear that. That must be extremely stressful for you.

This is exactly the kind of madness I’m talking about.

The US might be more hospitable in regard to not being harassed, but then again, in a way it might be worse as those that are harassed are often harassed mercilessly. I don’t know how it is in Ireland.

Is there a way to pacify the bastards? What business is it of theirs anyway what your 3 year old is doing?

Three-year-olds don't need friends the same age. They need to learn to interact with all ages, not in a class full of three-year-old kids all in various stages of development.

Thanks for talking about this! I've certainly come up dry when looking for homeschooling/unschooling information in Japan. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience on this.

Glad to answer any questions you may have as best I can. You can find me in Steem chat under the same name. Cheers!

I think with life, society and the workplace changing so much today, I find that the philosophy of unschooling can give us insight into how we can come better self-directed learners and prepare ourselves for a future that we can’t predict.
