Try a little nature! "Chop some wood"

Regarding his experience in dealing with depression, here are the words of @r2cornell in one of his comment:

I am lucky to live in a rural area which always me to get out into nature. I have a garden which helps keep me grounded, and during long winter months I grow salad greens indoors via hydroponics. I also have a good size shop where i dabble in woodworking. I usually get 10 cord of wood each spring and have till late Fall to split it. When things are real bad there is no better therapy that to bust up some wood. I also will use my treadmill if I am unable to get out doors.
I have not been to counseling for years, but for some that may be a lifelong situation. I always share with my clients my own experience and that they should not to be afraid of medications.

Personally, I'm a little unsure about medications, however, I think I'm lucky, my daily struggle is nothing compared to others, so I wouldn't recommend taking it or not taking it, everyone experience is different, however, I feel taking medication AND doing something "spiritually" (or any other way that could help them - not just medication) would benefit them greatly . Which is why I meditate, read spiritual scriptures, read anything that helps me think differently, even watch YouTube videos (like i said in the post)

Talking of possible causes for depression @mumslittlesecret gave this tip 6 months ago in her comment:

You may want to read the new book Medical Medium by Anthony William, he explains in this book one reason for depression is heavy metals, he also suggests how to rid the body of these things.

Is Nutrition a factor?

Oh yeah - I'm definitely am aware of heavy metals, but didn't know it helped with depression - detoxing from them truly is something I need to do to continue. I also found that eating a paleo diet, getting off wheat, and avoiding GMO foods is also effective. 
There's all kinds of things to do, but I will look into heavy metals as well. Thanks for the tip

Is Depression just an emotional state?

@dek62 elaborated this his comment, 6 months ago:

Depression is a complex problem - low levels of vitamin D and testosterone are simply more common causes for it. Each of these hormones (vitamin D is a hormone actually) may be the culprit. It can, however, be a different physiological or psychological problem - you should consult a doctor.
I will advise you to train often, go for walks under the sun, talk to friends and often engage strangers, even if for a greeting. It's also worth reducing time in front of the computer or the smart phone - they are often the case for nervousness and problems with sleep (I also mentioned magnesium and B complex, which are a good remedy for that). If you have trouble falling asleep, read a book, don't watch videos on your phone.
Some people with OCD have depression, because they try to control everything in their life and often need to arrange or touch objects several times, worrying that if they don't do it, something bad will happen either to them, their relatives or close ones. This is an extremely heavy mental load, which should be avoided. Some people don't understand this condition, but it's actually quite logical - for example, most people invest meaning in symbolism - an upright and a reversed cross have different meanings (i.e. personal beliefs, folklore, superstition, all influence human behavior).
Also, don't think long term and engage in short term goals. Engage in a hobby you like and try to find approval of your work from people around you. Feel accomplished, by completing all tasks you've set for the day. Think of the lovely breakfast and walk you are going to have tomorrow.
But most importantly, go to sleep early. Depression is often caused by irregular, short sleep, which in turn overloads the autonomic nervous system. Eating, sleeping and leading a normal life without stress, will eventually - in months or even years - restore its function and remove the causes for depression.
p.s. Sometimes problems with falling eyesight may cause constant nervousness, as well. Be sure to check them!

I really like the fact that you're not here for money , but I think depending on people's "likes" for being less depressed won't work out very well in the long run. The minute we start looking outside ourselves for approval, is probably the root cause for us to get depressed as we're not confident and happy about ourselves (manifestation of a lack of self love). Keep posting stuff to inspire people, but make sure you don't do it to feed your depression! It'll just make the prospect of it going away from your life a wee bit harder. Loving yourself is the way out :)

If you have read any of my posts, they mostly relate to mental health and learning about spirituality and how it can help us feel whole and connected with everyone. Personally, if anyone ever needs someone to talk to or just someone to listen so they feel heard or even if they want advice, which I can't promise will be correct, I have notifications turned on and don't mind helping anyone get through a hard time. We are all in this struggle together and we should all support each other.

I am also very interested in what Steemit has to say/think about mental illness... it's a topic I'm very passionate about and trying make more mainstream on the Steemit platform!
