Off Grid Health Care

in #ungrip7 years ago

When living off the grid, help could be days away, if they ever show up at all.  That suits us just fine as we don't trust the public 'health care' system anyway.  About the only thing they are really good at is dealing with acute trauma.  Otherwise, their medicine is only there for profit not health.

Home made apple juice and other foods grown on the land by our own hands.  This is real medicine!

So what can we do to ensure we are healthy if we choose not to participate with the public health care system?  Taking full responsibility for our own health and living without that public safety net can be a bit scary at times.  However, over time, our confidence in our approach has yielded some amazing results and giving us a comfort level that we did not even have with the public system.

When Carey started training to be a Heilkunst Homeopathic Practitioner in 2005, the training she got was amazing.  She has been practicing ever since and has done some amazing work with people.  Recognizing that health is not just a physical issue but also involves emotional, mental and spiritual work as well is a huge advantage over the allopathic medical system.  The system only treats the physical body and ignores everything else.  But when we start to see the individual for who they really are, a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being, amazing things start to happen.

Homeopathic Starter Kit that we trade with other people to help them get started.  Willing to trade steem and includes a nice wood box to hold all 50 remedies.  Available only for people on northern part of Turtle Island (more commonly known as Canada)

For us, we decided to jump in with both feet.  The emotional work that we did prior to reconciling our relationship also had tremendous healing benefits.  During my depression years, I was constantly sick.  However, in the past 16 years I now hardly ever get sick.  What change?  My emotional health took a huge leap forward which manifested in a much healthier body.  I also took exercise very seriously and trained in Tae Kwon Do for over 10 years.  Living off grid is also a huge benefit as the work involved ensure that we are constantly active and in great shape.  Our life style literally heals us and keeps us healthy.

The efforts that we made to grow our own food, harvest wild food and educate ourselves on wild medicine growing here on this land has had an equally significant impact on our health.  The industrial food within the system is toxic and makes people sick.  But by growing our or harvesting our own food without chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, antibiotics or any other chemical crap, we noticed a significant improvement in how we feel and our overall health.  We know where our food comes from and that has huge advantages for our entire family.

We have even gotten to the point that should any of us experience a trauma, we can most likely treat most of them ourselves.  But then this brings up a question:  How far are we willing to go to maintain life?

The reason I ask that question is that most people fear death.  I don't!  I've faced death in the face during my suicide attempts.  I'm not afraid of death, but I do fear the pain associated with it.  Despite that, I would rather have a 'good death' than be stuck in a hospital plugged into machines and doped up with their toxic chemicals.  My wife and I both agree that we don't want to die that way.  We would rather die a good death and not be subject to the system.  So if I die because a bear or cougar attacked me, then that would be awesome.  I refuse to die in a hospital bed.

Because we are rejecting the public safety net, we also engage in doing our own risk assessments.  We evaluate our activities and if we are taking a risk that is too high, we will make efforts to mitigate the risk or the impact of any event happening.

When we evaluate the probability of being hurt with the impact that is possible, we can then see if we are willing to take those risks or not.  Most people use insurance policies to mitigate risk, but we don't use insurance.  Instead we do the evaluation our selves.  The problem with insurance programs is that they use fear and intimidation to make people think that the risk is fairly high (in the red zone) when in actual fact the risk is rather low (green zone).  So they charge people based on the perceived risk, pay out on the actual risk and all the stuff in between is profit.  People are horrible at assessing risk and probability.

We also decided that we would not incur debt to heal.  If we are that sick, then we do not want to burden the next generation just because we fear death.  People make decisions based on emotions and the system plays on that for major profits.  While we recognize that we are loved, we do not want that emotional attachment to get in the way of making rational decisions.

For us, we determined that with Carey being a homeopath, the fact that we grow our own food, get exercise every day, breath fresh, clean air and have low stress lives, we have reduced the risk of getting seriously hurt or sick by SIGNIFICANT amounts!  We feel our efforts far exceed most peoples wildest expectations in regards to health care.

We also recognize that most of the physical symptoms presented in our bodies are rooted in emotional trauma.  So we don't treat the physical symptoms but rather treat and deal with the root causes instead.  When we deal with our emotional trauma, the vast majority of our physical symptoms go away.  My martial arts training has also given me a solid comprehension of how the human body is supposed to move, which also helps us with bio-mechanics issues associated with poor posture, etc.

I know doctors just HATE it when people look stuff up on line, but the truth is:  Online medical information is improving daily and is a fantastic resource!  They probably hate it because people may not need them any more, which is very bad for business.

Being in a healthy emotional, mental, physical and spiritual state allows us to be consciously aware of what our bodies are doing and be proactive and accurate in our assessments.  It takes a level of consciousness to be that in tune with ones body.  But if we can all get there, we will find that our dependency on the public safety net is not necessary and that the system should be relegated to providing emergency trauma services only.  We are more than capable of maintaining good health without them.

Oh My God! whatta classical piece of writing it is written by @wwf. This article is clearly defining the term ONE MAN ARMY

I want to mention here that in 2015 after getting my degree of Sociology with distinction i fell seriously ill and was diagnosed with GN (Glomerulonephritis) and i used to take 24 pills per day. Doctors told me there are 50% chances of your survival. I was very disappointed with Life and then i hit a plan to change my entire life style from food to habit everything.

#wwf rightly mentioned that medicine system is just a business and they have nothing to do with the lives of people physically or ethically.

Well after changing my life style by taking exercise regularly i am fully fit now :)

But here is lesson hidden for all of us in this blog which is
Don't Give Up!!
One's will power should be strong enough to face the miseries of life and to manage all the risks tactic fully as @wwf did.

Thank you so much for writing this beautiful piece of Motivation.

Keep sharing your beautiful life experiences with us.

Lot of prayers and best wishes are always with you!

Thank you for posting - I completely agree.

I wouldn't want to be hooked up to life support system in the future. Why burdening families with medical bills while I don't even have a quality life? When I die, the body can be donated for medical research and no memorial service necessary.

By the way, my best wish is to feed my body to fish after I die because I had eaten so many of them growing up in a fishing village. It would be a great natural way to pay back. :-)

I'm not perfect on the nutrition side but doing pretty good. Whole food and exercise can work wonders. I haven't needed a doctor or dentist for about a decade now.

Living the homesteading life, we sometimes are faced with injuries and ailments that a lot of regular folks dont

So if I die because a bear or cougar attacked me, then that would be awesome. I refuse to die in a hospital bed.

You. Are. Awesome.

Well, how many of us talk about a good death and how we want to die? We do as it is a very important topic. It has a huge impact on the decisions that we make regarding health care and the kinds of extra-ordinary efforts to save our life!

Not many will talk openly about death and dying. It's a shame it is such a taboo subject in our culture.

Looking at my next chapter for my book. Chapter nine is about death! How timely is that! <3

Perhaps a topic for another post. Thank you. I'll start the conversation then!

Thank you for being our Elder.

You honour me. <3 Thank you for valuing my life experiences. <3

Thank you that really good article.

was her training online or was it in person?

Both. They do most of their training by distance learning but then they are required to travel to Ottawa every summer to do a week of training on site as well. If you visit www.homeopathy.com, you can get more information on the collage.

perfect! I will do that! thank you. :)
