The Blockchain To Create 0% Unemployment Rate

in #unemployment6 years ago

In response to @krnels post:
https://steemit.com/politics/@krnel/no-more-unemployment-jobs-for-everyone-promises-from-leading-democrats-funded-by-taxation
I replied that the blockchain is going to create all the jobs and people will finally be paid what they are worth instead of constantly being exploited. @krnel asked me to explain myself, but my reply turned into a wall of text. This post is that reply.

The idea behind decentralization is that people are going to flock to the best deal. As it stands now this space is too new and underdeveloped. There aren't any good deals because there isn't any competition to make them so. Currently, the people in charge take as much as they can for themselves. Centralization is why I have shitty Comcast Xfinity Internet.

Eventually, white-hats are going to enter the space in droves. They're going to undercut all the crap deals and lure the flock. For example, eventually all the services currently on Steem that take a cut will be undercut by a service that takes less. This will domino effect into services that take nothing (or very little).

Imagine 10,000 projects in the works. Each one being spearheaded by a visionary developer. However, these people need help; they can't do it alone. They'll have to crowd source talent from the proof-of-brain talent pool. Bounties will be placed on tasks to complete jobs. People will flock to the high paying and/or interesting contracts. The visionary developers create a skeleton and provide the tools for anyone to come in and help them. In turn the helpers get paid for results.

time clock work ethic.jpg

Getting paid by the (time) hour is an antiquated business model. People will get paid for their contribution. Clearly, more skilled contributors can crank out more bounties or complete the more difficult ones. They'll be paid accordingly. No need for trust. We are entering a trustless smart-contract world. We will all be contractors; smart-contractors. This will create a huge boost in efficiency and enthusiasm. One can work whenever they want, wherever they want, with no boss. This new paradigm will resurrect work ethic.

This is the business model I seek to create. No longer will centralized corporations reap the benefits of exponential production while paying workers linear wages. No one will be unemployed. There will be job contracts everywhere for the taking.

If you know anything about economics you probably know that 0% unemployment is actually considered a bad thing in this sad debt-based economy. If no one is looking for work then companies who need labor aren't going to get any. This would stifle growth, production, and profits.

However, we are entering a new paradigm. 0% unemployment in a decentralized economy isn't a bad thing, it's simply reality. When you commit to a full time job you did just that: commit. You can't work somewhere else during the same time without breaking a commitment. In a decentralized job market you're only committing one contract at a time. When you think about it, you have both 0% unemployment and 100% unemployment at the same time. Everything is fluid.

This new way of doing business is going to put major pressure on centralized entities. As unemployment drops they are going to be forced to offer higher and higher wages for the same job. In the end, only the smartest centralized companies will survive the onslaught. I have high hopes for Amazon in this regard.

Decentralized Software Production

I see myself as more of a backend or foundation programmer. I'm going to create the skeleton for games and require help for everything else:

  • Content
  • Storyline
  • Maps/Dungeons
  • Enemies
  • Classes/Heroes
  • Skills
  • XP Leveling system
  • Puzzle logic
  • Graphics

I'm only going to create a combat system and basic shapes as terrain. For the game to take off I need the help from hundreds (if not thousands) of people. How can I get this many people to help me? The blockchain is the foundation of an open-source world. Steem and EOS are the perfect platforms, and I will be able to port my games to any blockchain that provides a basic API. I will create the sandbox and the community will create the castles.

EasyToLearn.jpg

Modularity is the key.

Breaking up a project into the smallest parts possible is the key to success and decentralization. I will create terrain and a combat system. In the beginning, your character will just be a dot on the screen moving across shapes on a boring 2-D map. Clearly, the biggest bounties will go to bringing this sad board to life.

Funding

Graphics are the most difficult and time consuming thing to create when it comes to a game. Logically, these bounties will fetch a high price. Where will the money come from?

  • Upvotes
  • Donations
  • Delegations from @ned and others
  • Outside investors
  • Zealot enthusiasts.

There are 37 whales here that could kickstart this project on Steem. How many more will be on EOS? How many more will be on platforms that don't even exist yet? How many rich people looking for investments haven't even entered the space yet? This new world we are entering is making it very easy to get funds and distribute them instantly with zero friction.

Money isn't the only way to donate to a project. Time is also a resource. Programmers that work for free or low wages can contribute to projects in a big way. If the project is able to simplify content creation even further, anyone can join in on the creation process. Paying "employees" in the form of a new SMT is a great way to reward contributions in the form of an investment. If the project takes off everyone who was donating their time reaps the benefits later.

The goal is consensus.

My games will be open source. Anyone can come along and change whatever they want. This will spawn many varying versions of the same game. However, the ultimate goal is to merge similar versions into one that a bigger group will support. The more people you can get to agree on the rules of the game, the bigger your community is. A bigger community will have more support, funding, and development.

More about modularity.

So, in the beginning terrain will be displayed in the form of basic shapes and your character will be displayed as a dot or a simple icon with no moving graphics. Take Castle of the Winds for example.

castle of the winds.png

The foundation of my game will be even more basic than this, but will allow more complex overlays to rest on top of the foundation. In fact, if someone liked Castle of the Winds they could make my game look like it if they wanted to with a mod. Perhaps another person creates an overlay that makes the game look like Final Fantasy. Anyone playing the game can plug and play these mods and tip (upvote) the developer of them if they so choose. The more popularity that the game gains the more work people will be willing to put into it. Eventually I would hope that people would be using open source 3-D rendering like Blender to create a full-fledged version of the game that doesn't look like a retro Nintendo game.

Multiplayer

As the game progresses forward the community is creating content for it and plugging them all together in a way they see fit. Eventually, there will be ways for one account to affect another account. This will turn the game into an MMORPG. The blockchain already provides a secure foundation for such an endeavor, making the overhead for such a task trivial. The blockchain also provides a built in monetary system in the form of Steem, EOS, SMT, or whatever else.

Auction House Economy

The first multiplayer interaction will be the auction house. Say you find a rare item in the game and you want to sell it. Anyone playing the same version of the game as you will be able to see your auction house listing on the blockchain and the transaction can occur with a smart contract. This requires no central authority of trust.

Bots

Incentivizing a game with monetary value will bring bots to the table. Black-hats will try to exploit the system. However, every action occurs on the public blockchain. There will be rewards for pointing out bots and getting them banned in a decentralized manner. One such reward could be 10% of the bot's account value, while the other 90% is destroyed. This same logic could be applied to people who try to exploit or cheat the game as well.

Conclusion

I feel like I could talk about this forever, but hopefully you get the idea. Projects will be created that allow anyone to come in and make money with proof-of-brain. If you thought that blogging was going to be the only thing you could do here to make money you were happily mistaken.

Exactly friend, as we speak steemit has proven your post to be true, steemit has given lots of people more than the income an employer can give

Very explicit and detail, well I am already employed by cryto, I earn from Steemit and other platform and even better than the job I was before.

Enamored by your mind.

so much to say - and my brain is going in a million different directions. hmmm. I'll be patient. lol
