#Ulog Day 25: Then and Now photographs

It's another blessedful day Uloggers!

I hope you are doing well today. I was actually browsing on my Facebook account when I bumped into old photos in my Album. Last year we went to Leyte to visit our friends and decided to visit some of the historical places there. One of the places that are very memorable to us is the McArthur Landing Memorial Park.

This is the place where General McArthur landed on Oct. 20th in 1944 after the Allied victory against the Japanese. As a result of this victory the "Battle of Leyte Gulf" the largest battle of World War II commenced the beginning of the Allied reconquest of the Philippines.

Under the order of then President Ferdinand Marcos, the MacArthur Landing Memorial Park was established to mark such a momentous occasion in 1977. There were 7 statues made of bronze at 10 feet tall designed by sculptor Anastacio Caedo portraying the landing. Every 20th of October every year, ceremonies are held to mark the subsequent Allied Victory.

I had these photos taken at the park in 2013 during our bonding with the team. Thus, when we came back to Leyte in 2017 we made sure to visit the place again and thought of re-enacting my pose on my old photos.

Despite the strong super typhoon haiyan in 2013, these statues remain standing and the place remains the same. This was also the same spot where I and my fiance sat down in 2013.

It's always nice to look back on old photos and remember those happy moments. Memories that are worth keeping for even photographs fade away. If you happen to visit the island of Leyte, aside from taking selfies at the longest bridge in the Philippines, the McArthur Memorial Landing is a nice place to visit as well.
