Well it’s Tuesday August 14th, Alexandria and I just arrived to her New York state hunters safety course! Obviously my treestand post I was very excited for the next 2 days (no matter how much I fought sleeping) lol. She was excited and nervous at the same time because she didnt know what to expect. So she wanted me to stay with her which I did 8am-5pm with 18 people and 3 instructors in a small room, my daughter comes before #PTSD everytime I can make it!

I wasn’t gonna put anything in this area but I figured I would show my gratitude to the gentleman that own/run the gun club. They were considerate of the kids feelings, while also sternly telling them the rules of the road! Flag any of us your failed “Muzzle awareness”

First, let me explain the picture above, Alexandria is learning single person fence crossing. How to properly protect her gun while setting it on the ground to cross. Along with this, there was a learn the proper way to carry a gun while afield. She knew just what to do as I have been teaching her this almost since she can remember! This was on day 2 that they went outside rather the important but kinda boring regulations and safety that has to be discussed. Here comes the fun part!

THE RANGE

Yes, The Range a sportsman, gun advocates best friend! Best place on planet or even, earth to get a relief of the stress you could be feeling! Its an amazing anxiety medication, beats the hell out of xanax in my opinion lol, have the juices flowing and need then out other then lashing got shoot! Considering that Alexandria is only 11 she was not able to shoot the .22 caliber Long rifle, buts thats ok that a pretty nice air rifle to accompany her to be able to shoot (Another Great thing) but at this point in the day she was really ready to just take the taste haha.

Well here she goes! Hit the target 1 time, bullseye but considering she was shooting wrong and it being heavy that made a huge difference. But she will be learning with different guns, different shooting methods, etc so its not a huge thing was more the feel of shooting a gun. Now at this point the instructor had advised me after shooting lunch till 12:30 I knew there wasnt much left to cover before it was testing time. If I would have had pomp pomps I could have cheered her on from the sideline I was so nervous and excited lmao it was almost time for the moment I have been waiting 11 years for.

Well Alexandria seems to be filling out something, and at this point she had taken the test, taken her time, prepared all she could and felt confident, which was good enough for me. So with fingers crossed we wait.

SHE PASSED she is officially qualified in hunters safety and can obtain her hunting license in the state of New York! I had no doubt in my mind that she could pass as she was damn near ready for every question on that test. Cant wait till spring and I can get her on her first turkey! A milestone has been reach on this day, and I am truly proud of my babygirl!

Final Thoughts

For a while here in the hunting party at home we werent sure if we were gonna add another gatherer to the group. Hunting is not something that can be forced on anybody its a natural instinct, a passion for providing food for our family while doing our part in Wildlife conservation both financial and by keeping the numbers down. Alexandria finally wanted to become a hunter and passed. For my daughter I will give her above and beyond any material gift I can give her, bonding time to get to know her father and mother while feeding ourselves and having a good time doing it. Congratulations babygirl this was bigger then you know, soon you will see.
