Ulog - A great way to enjoy life in Plaza Independencia

It was a hot afternoon when i need to go to the post office. I did rode a public utility jeep just to be able to get there, but since there is no direct route, i need to walk passing Plaza Independencia. It is a park where family bond together during weekends and holidays. A great place where you will enjoy to be a simple citizen where you can able to socialized with other people aside from your family members.

As i walked towards Plaza Independencia, i see a Cebu City sign using the green plants. It was really artistic on how they design the lettering. I do acknowledge their effort on creating it and that people behind it should be recognized by the community.

Plaza Independencia has been a tourist destination of both local and international tourist since it has many histories behind the place during Spanish period and still until now it is remembered and treasured by Cebuanos.

They make sure that the park is cleaned as always. Metro aide and city sweepers inspect the place for garbage and waste so they will maintain the park in a much greener and clean place. They also put some signs just to make sure to remind people who are in the park not to smoke and throw their garbage anywhere. It is a good way to remind people how to be a responsible citizen and maintain the cleanliness of the park.

There are also markings in the place about the history of Plaza Independencia and some rules and regulations from the City Government. It is worth to read if you are using the place.

I did some walk on the park and i was curious on who is that statue so i take a picture from where i am standing.

To end my curiosity, i need to go much closer and see who is the man behind the great statue where he is standing tall and bold. And i was shocked when i see that it was our great Philippine hero, Andres Bonifacio, who fought the Spaniards with his might to be able to gain freedom. I really admire his courage and dedication on leading the people known as Katipuneros to fight back against the Spanish colonials.

Also imprinted in the stone craved, his history and accomplishment as a Philippine hero.

Aside from Andres Bonifacio statue you will able to see a big letter U sign, which is really tall and big.

You will also see a big castle inside Plaza Independecia where you will see old canyons and some weapons from the old Spanish era. It was guarded 24 hours just to make sure that all equipment and objects inside are safe from looters and robbers since most of them are previous and have high values due to antique category.

You will also see the famous Ferdinand Magellan who first established Christianity in Cebu and also the first person who proved that the earth is round.

In near exit you will see a statue of the very first friars who help established Christianity.

Even though it is hot that time, it was really amazing experienced. I think i will be here again once i am not busy with my family of course.
