Real hackers are suppose to be resourceful. They can stress test a system even without the typical equipment that is required in hacking. A few years ago I decided to learn hacking/penetration testing and now looking back on the things that I have done, I am quite sure that this series will be inline with the Learning Linux Without Installing Linux series. Can a hacker so poor or stripped off from his purchased computer or any access device be able to gather information about an intended target or some commissioned job(legal). The answer is yes. Yes, a true hacker can use his creativity in a limitless fashion. Just sit back and relax as I try to gather information from Steem seed nodes.

   One of the seed nodes is stuck. How do I check what's happening? Assuming that I created a seed node and my computer was stolen in the airport. How do I check? Stupid penetration testers will follow what they memorized. The most stupid course of action is to whine, complain and cry.

   I will use some free online web application to probe my seed node. This is obviously not my seed node but as you can see the network mapper says that the port 2001 is open and the host is up. I just performed something to my(not mine) seed node just by renting a unit in an internet cafe somewhere in Thailand or Japan. If I can do it you can do it.

   This time I used a web application that performed a traceroute and from there I might be able to trace the problem. Where is it coming from? But still that is a big maybe. See. Hacking doesn't require that you own a computer. Be imaginative. Details shall be unveiled in the next episode. Bye.
