ULOG #17 - THE ROAD TO RECOVERY
Hello fellow runners. Today marked the first day I actually ran 10K without a knee brace. Never thought the day would arrive, been sporting that nasty thing since April. Countless hours have been spent in stretching, exercise, massage and physio. Running with pain and through pain is no picnic. Not running at all is even less fun and totally boring.
Got myself some fancy duda insoles from Dr. Scholls to help with the gait.
And some new Mizuno's. Not my favorite Mizuno shoe but perfect for the transition at this time in the game.
So on this run today through St. Margarets Village I thought I would try something else. Rather than the usual pictures, I decided to take a picture of everything I saw that was unusual. Not the normal thing I see on my everyday runs. Hope that these pictures may inspire the odd non-runner or two, here or there. Or the walker, just waiting to kick it up a notch to runnerhood.
How about this interesting guy, who really did not care that I came across his path, while basking in the sun.
How about this view. You gotta just love this view.
How about this very strange looking bush. I have never seen one of these.
Or...this very unique way of hiding your Hydro poles. This idea I actually love.
This little flag was at the end of someone's driveway. Thought it was so cute.
This one won the top prize today for the most unique entrance on your driveway leading up to your home. If this does not capture the day, then I am not sure what does.
I hope that something here is unique and that you leave feeling inspired.
Namaste

Glad to hear you're running again. Go easy on the knee though and give it time to get stronger!
I've barely run at all since I got a job. Gotta be satisfied with two miles of walking every day - plus eight hours on my feet. This silly phone app tells me I've been averaging 14000 steps.
Oh my gosh. So nice to hear from you. Felt you two dropped off the earth. Yes I have been taking it slow. Actually I wear the brace for support, but it is not really my knee. It is a muscle that starts on the inside of the knee, travels up the inside of the leg and then at the top of the leg travels across the top and joins the IT band and Psoas Muscle on the outside. Sounds complex eh. lol. Nevertheless I have run three times without the brace, but I cannot let up on the exercises. Here I thought you were actually deep into the running and were going to join us here in Nova Scotia in September for the Maritime Race Weekend. lol.
Funny enough i was going to ask if you have snakes when you showed us pictures of your lovely garden and surounding area. And who couldnt stop to read that wonderfull sign. That would make my day. Glad you have been able to run without your knee brace... A real triumph. All the hard work was worth it, well done x
Thank you and yes it felt so very good and not only that it felt pretty good once I got home and good this morning. Whew!!!!!!!!! I have never seen a snake in the garden, pretty sure they are there..Thank you for the resteem. x
You are welcome for the resteam it was a great post. So glad you had no Ill effects. Onwards and upwards. X

No need to be a masochist to run well... but a bit of pain could make you stronger. ;)
