ULOG #6: Count Your Blessings One By One

After work, my mother and I went straight to Cagayan de Oro City. I am in-charge as her guardian together with my 15-year old sister. Mama's destination has been like this for a couple of days, from Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte to Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental. She departs from Iligan City to Cagayan at 4 PM and then departs from Cagayan to Iligan at 12 midnight, note that it is a 2-hour long travel. She then arrives around 3 AM and the wakes up at 5:30 AM to start cooking on the Menu of the Day. And, work until past lunch time and then travel again for two hours. Imagine how tired she must be but she's not bothered at all.

So while we were on the bus, she was fast asleep. We arrived around 9 PM because of one-lane traffice and then I decided to treat her and my sister a dinner in Greenwich. After the dinner session, we went straight to the hospital and there, after 2 weeks, I saw my loving Nana again. She was undeniably thin with a huge baby-like bump.

She was instructed to take a bath around 4 AM, so we decided to go out and buy some bathing stuffs like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. I then sent money to my classmate, $5.7, in which I found out that he's been eating once per day and that meal includes a rice and a soy sauce as a viand. We're also under the state of bankruptcy becausw of Nana'e condition but I could not cover my ears, close my eyes and turn my head away from my friend who ate only once and it was already 9 PM.

I asked my mother how much is the discount to a señior citizen, and my mother said that we shouldn't worry because señior citizens are free! And my Nana's operation is FREE was really happy! Thank God! We only have medication, food, laboratory test, and Nana to worry about. God is so good all the time. And all the time, God is so good! I really I couldn't contain my happiness upon hearing those words!
