ULOG 32: Hurricane Maria One Year Anniversary
Today is the very first anniversary of hurricane Maria. Many emotions pass by thinking of this time. Just a year ago history was made and we were smack in it! Unless you were in the island of Puerto Rico, the emotions and thoughts and experiences that we went through during the time, I believe it is nearly impossible to ever completely explain everything to anyone.
Someday, maybe, in this life time we might be fortunate enough to see the island return to normalcy. However, this might be too much to ask. The island has much to go, in regards to recuperation. It has been a very long slow process and the government is corrupt and inept.
However, I believe in the power of the people not politics. I believe that the citizens can rise through a concerted effort and loads of heart.
I believe that Puerto Rico can rise again through unselfish acts and never forgetting what we went through. By helping each other and changing one’s mind set we can overcome the hardships. It will definitely take unselfish acts and nonprofits.
We already went through the worst let’s just never forget.
I wish to publicly thank God first and foremost, and all the family members that I have from afar and all the wonderful angels that God used when we thought we could hold on no more. We made it! Not without scars of course, but those of us that made it, we’re here and grateful.
