in #ulog6 years ago

Hello steemians,
Welcome to my blog. I am dedicating this article to all Uloggers, new users of steemit and to other great steemians out there.

I just felt like writing on something inspirational today, definitely, unlike me. But i just came to realise that we all need inspiration to attain what we want in life, because it is the driving force of an elevation process in one's life. It is the stimulating influence upon the intellect, emotions or creativity. That is just to show us how important this might be in our everyday life.

NOW WHAT IS GRIT?
According to my English dictionary, Grit simply means

the strength of mind

In just one word, simply put Grit means "Fortitude", which is

the mental or emotional strength that enables courage in the face of misfortune.

Angela Duckworth, a great scholar from the university of Pennsylvania suggests that the term Grit

is a strong predictor of success and ability to reach one's goal.

Her theory purely states that

GRIT should be used instead of intelligence when comparing 2 people who are of the same age but with different levels of education so as to predict which one among them will be better educated in the future.

The virtue "GRIT" mostly manifests itself in long-term adventures where you can see people holding tokens that are worthless now, hoping that it would soon make waves in the future. It is often regarded as "Mental Toughness".

HOW TO BE MENTALLY TOUGH

These simple tips can go a long way in making one to be mentally tough, thereby drawing him closer towards achieving his or her goals.

  1. Find a source where you can get your motivation from

The source from where a particular motivational spirit emanated from is really important. I will use myself as an example here, i made a deal with someone recently, where we agreed that i will be supplying the person with 2 articles on a daily basis. But the articles should be based on recent news on cryptocurrencies. We both agreed that my pay for the services would be $100 monthly. Hell yeah, the pay is too small compared to the stress in it, but I kept on pushing it as though it was my personal thing. Actually, i have something very important to do with the money and that was "my source of motivation". I know that amount is not much but it can go a long way in helping save some amount of money I needed to invest in steem before the year runs out. I'm doing this hard job for that little pay.

  1. Do your things in a step-by-step pattern

When one experiences tough times, he or she is likely to submerge in such situation. The only way not to get sink out of sight is by taking things one brick at a time(step-by-step pattern), while staying focused at the end result(goal). By doing this, i think one is closer towards achieving its "GRIT".

  1. Ask for help when necessary994341_XL.jpg

This picture depicts how a bird that was supposed to be high up in the skies, came down to the ground because it needs help at the moment(it came down in search for food).

90% of the world's most successful people got to that level where they are now by receiving a helping hand from people. Do not be too shy or too proud to ask people for help whenever you need it. Asking for help doesn't show your weakness, it only shows that you are really strong enough and ready to achieve highee heights in future.

  1. Eliminate(Do away with) that thought of "self pity" within you and keep on pushing

"Self Pity" or "looking down on one's self has no place in making one to be mentally tough, but only reduces the zeal and energy one has towards achieving a certain goal. So, that thought should be completely eliminated from the mind. A typical example can be given with the movement of a snail, knowing too well that it is no where near the fastest organism in the world, still doesn't have to look down on itself and that is the main reason why it keeps on pushing, not minding the barriers in front of it. We should all try and emulate the movement of a snail as it helps us to get used to something that seems difficult to achieve.

  1. Forget the past and focus more on what the future holds

What happened in the past should be taken as bygones. We shouldn't let them weigh us down, rather we should learn from the mistakes that led to those misfortune encountered in the past. By doing So, we learn how to avoid pitfalls in the future and at the same time, stimulate our "GRIT" towards achieving anything in life.

Thanks for reading this post... I hope you got motivated in one way or the other.

I love that word Grit-- it makes such sense now from your perspective. I wonder if Grit is one of the tags used in human resource resume search. Maybe it should be.
