#ulog #8 Learn-A-Word Day 7 (Accolade)
Welcome to Day 7 of my Learn-A-Word series. If you missed Day 1, there's a contest on there to win a share of SBI just by using the words of the day in a sentence in comments. Today's Learn-A-Word is accolade. It literally means "on the neck". Back in the days of kings and knights, the king granted knighthood to a new knight by tapping him on each shoulder with a sword. Becoming a knight was a high honor so accolade eventually came to mean receiving praise or honor. Here is a sentence:
My office had the best customer satisfaction score and I received high accolades from our District Manager at the award dinner.
It's always nice to receive accolades for a job well done!
