#ulog 030: My intern got the job
Aside from my current job and startups, I also joined a mentorship program by my university. This program is to help students to find a direction upon graduation or to support them in finding the right job and orientation.
Months ago, I received a request from her to support in shaping her career path after graduation. From talking, I understood her motivation and strengths. After considering a few factors, I had guided her to join a Management Trainee program from a reputable insurance corporation. After that program, she had had another internship in an FMCG corporation before working as a Marketing Executive
You are young, you should try what you want
One of my advice to her is that when you are still young, should try everything that you'd love. As long as those things do not case a fortune, give it a try and learn from the experience. Joining in wrong companies, doing an illegal job, etc. is just the beginning of a new journey.
After you have identified yourself, it's time to work on your long-term career plan
My intern was quite uncertain about whether should she go with Marketing or not. After the internship, she got her to answer clear, at least for the short term. Now as she is working as a full-time member, there will be plenty of things that she can learn before a next career movement.
