Half Timbered Houses
Half Timbered Houses in Steyning
When a friend came to visit, recently, we went for a drive in the countryside and ended up in Steyning in search of afternoon tea.
Steyning is a small rural town and a civil parish in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. It lies at the north end of the River Adur gap in the South Downs and is four miles north of Shoreham-by-Sea (which I've written a number of posts about).
These half timbered framed houses are on Church Street, which is the main road that passes through the town.
After a lot of waiting around, I was very fortunate to be able to take the first photograph without people or cars getting into the shot, which, as you can see, was not the case for the second one. 😂

This is my entry to @juliank's and @photocontests architectural photography contest.
So, of course, the question I have is, why only half of the frame in timber? Too expensive? They wanted to be different? The town was prone to flooding? It was the style of the day? The top part of the building was damaged so they rebuilt it?
Okay, those are my guesses.
I'm not right with any of them, are I? :)
Oh, and I take it you found your tea.
That's pretty good @gamingmemes. :) Just found the original with Bitcoin on it. Hilarious. :)
