We're Getting Another Chance To See Gastelum Fight Another Brazilian Legend
After defeating Vitor Belfort with a KO Gastelum calls out the legend Anderson Silva. To everyone's surprise Anderson actually takes the fight. Not saying he's afraid of Gastelum or anything but lately Silva has been pretty picky about his opponents. Unfortunately we didn't get to see that match up because Gastelum tested positive for Marijuana and was pulled from the fight. I love that USADA is cleaning up the sport, but why is Marijuana a banned substance? Anyway...
I've had a love-hate relationship with Kelvin Gastelum at middleweight. On the one hand I think if he didn't mess up his weight cuts he could've fought a rematch with Woodley which would've been epic considering how close the first fight was. But on the other hand Gastelum at MW dropped Chris Weidman. That's crazy to think about. That's how good this guy is, he dropped and almost knocked out an opponent so much bigger and stronger than him. Also he did win TUF at MW.
Anderson isn't an aggressive fighter though. He's a counter striker, how will he deal with the speed of Gastelum, will it even matter with his size advantage. This match up would've seemed preposterous a while ago but damn it sure is interesting when you think about it more.

If he fights the way he fought Brunson I think he will lose, but it seems crazy that his skills would deteriorate so quickly. The old Anderson is somewhere in there but just lacks confidence I guess.
