The reliquary of Behaim

The reliquary of Behaim

Source

Behaim had received on his sixteenth birthday a strange reliquary. His grandfather had left it to be delivered just that day. It seemed strange to Behaim, since he had not received gifts from him for five years, since he had died.

When opening it, the reliquary contained no photo but the darkest darkness, but he thanked his father for having kept it and delivered it. He took the small pendant and put it near the computer. While he was sleeping he began to feel that the strange reliquary vibrated and iridescent light sprang up. Startled Behaim got up and when touched his body began to disintegrate and transported to a bright place. He could not believe it, it was the study of his grandfather, Nikola.

There he saw him sitting reading twenty thousand leagues of Submarine Journeys, one of his favorite books. He asked:

Grandpa, are you? How is it possible if you died on that expedition five years ago? This must be a dream, he told himself.

And the grandfather replied:

No, little Be. I'm not dead. In my expedition I have managed to travel through time, and that reliquary that I gave you has part of the particle that makes us travel. And I gave it to you because you've always wanted to travel and meet ancient civilizations.

But how is that possible? Behaim asked again, very surprised.

And Nikola answered him

Simple, come closer. Do not be afraid.

Behaim approached and just touch the black and watery substance that contained the reliquary were transported to antiquity. His grandfather showed him the immensity of the Semiramis Hanging Gardens and told him:

Feel the smell, the beauty of the construction. The plants that are there. Observe the majesty.

Awesome, said Behaim. And can we go to other places?

Where do we want to go? You and I will travel to the past, present or future.

This is how Behaim and his grandfather Nikola saw events that no one else could and helped in the construction of large buildings such as the Eiffel Tower, The Pyramids of Cheops, the Petronas Towers and helped great scientists, authors such as Jules Verne, Edgar Allan Poe and others, in Greenland the most beautiful northern lights.

Behaim and his grandfather Nikolai achieved what many had wished, traveling through time, belonging to history and being time at the same time.

Cool story.

There is something wrong with the formatting. When you have a quotation in your story, it is some window with a slider. Not sure what that is, something miss typed in the markup language.
