As a child, she was always pretty bright
Playing with shadows through the night
Weekends alone waving to her papa, goodbye

Spirit fingers over the layers of decaying discrepancies that rest in peace
Sprinkles of glittery dust from the neighboring pixies.
She thinks the happiest of thoughts, as her siblings roll their eyes in disgust.
Silly trolls, don't they know she's got pixie dust?

Through broken blinds, a broken smile sees the light of day. Trailer park princess is on the lookout! Gems sparkling on the asphalt as she whispers, those are gems, no doubt.

Carefully, she sneaks. Piece by piece she collects these broken things. She holds it up to the sunlight and watches it, glistening. Thinking of the joy it will bring. Thinking of the ways she can bring joy to papas heart when it stings. All these beautiful, broken things.

Hi! It was a nice poem, love the line "through broken blinds, a broken smile sees the light of day".

Apart from that, I wanted to ask you, can you link to the poetry contest you speak of? I'm still new to SteemIt and couldn't find it myself lol

the shattered glass imagery creates a nice accompaniment to your thematic narrator, the collector of broken things.

the narrator's innocence is contrasted quite poetically by the setting and juxtaposing sibling charachters in her effort to find magic and beauty in the mundane.

a pleasant story told across your imagery - thank you for sharing.
