The Gifted Season 2 – Episode 2 Spoiler Free Review

This episode was definitely an improvement from the season premier.

I think that was weighing down the show is everything that has to do with Dawn, Polaris’s baby. First of all, it is so clearly a doll every time Polaris holds it up. And a cheap one. Second of all, the actress who plays Polaris, Emma Dumont, seems to lack in the acting department. She just fails to convey the motherly emotions or the physical exhaustion.

Luckily, now we can see other things going on which are much more interesting. The triplet which I hated in the last season are at last becoming interesting. It looks like we will be exploring how they can be a hive mind and individuals inside of it.

For a half a second there I even liked Andy in this episode. However, Lauren steals the show. Not because she is a better actress, but because her script is simply better. Looks like Reed is also headed into an interesting direction, while his wife continues to be simply annoying.

I have no idea why Jace Turner is still on the show. I can do just fine without his perspective on the show. I know that we are meant to feel sorry for him, but I just don’t.

When it comes to Reeva Payge I am still undecided. She seems like a formidable opponent to the Underground. But her plans seem unrealistic and her perspective that mutant behavior is different from human behavior is a joke. Plus, despite all of her stories, she just feels to damn cold, calculated and unrelatable, as oppose to almost of the mutants surrounding her.

This is a big improvement and I am curious to see what will happen next. To everyone but Polaris, Eclipse and the baby.
