How to Meme: Earrape

These are all red flags when listening to videos on youtube or dtube, because there is a chance it's going to be the ear-bleed-inducing memage of earrape.

For those who don't know, earrape is the act of taking the audio of something and applying distortion, amplification, gain, and an insane amount of bass to it in attempt to destroy both your stereo system and eardrums.

Here is a step-by-step process on how to make this using audacity.

Step 1:

Load your audio file into Audacity

Note: If you only want certain parts of the audio to be earrape, you have to do the following steps for each selected part.

Step 2:

Apply any bass boost BEFORE you do any other effects. If you don't, it might cancel out any other changes you made.

Warning! If the bass is boosted enough it might make the lyrics inaudible. In most cases, you still wan't to understand any talking going on despite it being earrape.

Step 3:

Amplify

Warning! A when adjusting, make sure you check "allow clipping", otherwise you might not be able to apply the changes.

Step 4:

Increase the gain (Max gain is recommended for proper earraping)

Step 5:

Export audio (File -> Export)
