The most simple way to start mining steem on windows (with tutorial video)

in #tutorial4 years ago (edited)

In the following short video I will show you the easiest way to start mining steem on windows.

Before watching the video you should:

  • download and install the following files:
contenturl
Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 (32bits and 64bits will be offered, download and install both)https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784
Winrarhttp://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar54b4.exe
  • just download the following files (try to download them on the desktok, it'll be easier to follow along)
contenturl
Steem Windows Wallet and Minerhttps://github.com/btscube/steem/releases/download/v0.12.2/steem-win-x64-012-2.zip
blockchain.ziphttp://einfachmalnettsein.de/steem-blocks-and-index.zip

You'll need your steemit account name.
Your active key ( I will show you how to get it, if you don't know where it is).

A list of seed nodes: ( They can be found on the official steem github repositery)

seed-node = 52.37.169.52:2001
seed-node = 52.26.78.244:2001
seed-node = 192.99.4.226:2001
seed-node = 46.252.27.1:1337
seed-node = 81.89.101.133:2001
seed-node = 52.4.250.181:39705
seed-node = steemd.pharesim.me:2001
seed-node = seed.steemed.net:2001
seed-node = steem.clawmap.com:2001
seed-node = seed.steemwitness.com:2001
seed-node = steem-seed1.abit-more.com:2001

And now just follow along with the video and you should be in the mining business within 30 minutes .... even less if you have a powerful computer.

thanks for the tutorial will be mining steem soon

That's great. I was wondering how this is done. Thanks for the tut.

One of the better tutorials so far. I'm still trying to figure out how to mine on multiple PCs. Seems like a lot of conflicting information out there.

i think its impossible to add multiple miners to same account so you need to add one witness or more on each machine

I am starting to agree with you. I've tried the config described in other posts with one computer configured as a witness and several others configured as miners, all sharing the same private key. What happens is when one of the miners finds a POW, it gets "missed" and the steem goes poof. When I use the standard config of one account as both the miner and the witness on just one pc it works. So my conclusion is if you want to mine on multiple machines each one should be configured to run under a separate account, and the same account should be used for the witness and the miner.

I agree with you, I still haven't found a truly simple answer to that problem. That's the reason why I am not talking about it ... but if I find reliable info I'll make a new post about it ....
For now you can have a look at this, this is probably the most accurate info https://steemit.com/allinone/@omotherhen/ezsteem-suite-1-0-the-ez-way-to-setup-your-steem-miner-node-in-a-linux-vm-windows-compatible

Awesome post! Too bad I sold my miner recently... might have to look into buying a new one with a decent hash rate after seeing this.

Nice tutorial. Just wondering, about roughly how many steem are you getting on average per day? Is there a difficulty? And also Is how many steem dependent upon your computer cpu power? Thanks-

Not sure what I missed but when I click on it to run it see the window pop up for a split second and then it is gone. I am running windows 10 on a surface.

In that case, you should try to start it with the command line, and see what error it displays.

When I started the miner it got all the way up to 92% then I got a wall of red text that read unknown hardfork exception, hummmm...

Yep the tutorial is already outdated, you have to download the latest version of the miner:

hi , i feel so frustrated because i have tried everything and checked the process again and again , with the windows 10 . i keep on getting an error that the execution could not read witness name or even the private key i have rechecked soo many times over ,but with no success... please help.
