Tips number 1.

It to be fun:

  • Nobody likes a strict tutor.
  • Nobody likes to just do work in silence.
  • Let your student do some educational yet fun games on the computer or mobile.
  • Give them short breaks once in a while. Have prizes for being good for a whole day like give them a piece of candy.

Tips number 2.

Give them breaks:

  • The break should be no longer then 5 minutes.
  • When they are working for a long time then they are more likely to get less answer correct.
  • They need a break every now and again just like you and me.

Tips number 3.

Don't make them do work that's too hard.
If they are in first grade then don't think that they are going to know square roots or algebra. Do more simple things like adding and subtracting or multiplying and dividing until they master it. Teach them things that should know in their grade level.

Tips number 4.

Be fair.

  • Don't yell at them if they make mistake.
  • Also don't make rules like if you miss one question on this test them I'll give you detention.
  • It's not fair and they probably made an itly-bitty mistake.
  • Also cut them some slack if they forget a period in a sentence just like on their page "Don't forget your period next time."
  • Just do not do that every time.
  • Also you can be kinda strict with your rules like- If you run in the room you don't get candy for of the rest of the week or no recess today.

As long as they are fun, fair etc.
