TRUSTING GOD – DESPITE OURSELVES

Neither David nor Moses was sinless and both had their failings-all of God’s leaders do. But, underlying everything, their confidence was in God. And they knew His blessings and favor. This has been the experience of all who trust God in every age.
We know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according His purpose. For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the first born among may brothers. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified. (Romans 8:28-30).
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does He withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.
O Lord Almighty,
blessed is the man who trusts in you. (Psalms 84:11,12)
TRUSTING GOD – DESPITE OTHERS
Trusting God is not always easy. We belong to Him does not mean that we are exempt from the problems other people face. Again and Again, the Bible warns us not to get upset when people who do not trust God, as we do, seem to be doing well.
Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture,
Delight yourself in the Lord
and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit you way to the Lord;
trust in Him and He will do this:
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him:
do not FRET when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret – it leads only to evil. (Psalm 37:3-8)
TRUSTING IN THE RIGHT THINGS
Time will tell: we shall see those whose trust the gods of materialism, power, and politics disappointed in the end.
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way, they will lay up treasures for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. (1 Timothy 6:17-19).
The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
The Lord is with me; He is my helper.
I will look in triumph on my enemies.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust princes. (Psalm 118:6-9)
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord of God.
They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm. (Psalm 20:7,8)

The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. Psalm 18:2 (KJV)
