Friday November 11, 2017 : Episode 29 "CONSPIRINORMAL Host Adam Sayne on "Poisons Lurking in the Mud...""  LISTEN TO ARCHIVE!

My good friend Adam Sayne and host of the popular and long-running podcast CONSPIRINORMAL 

wrote pretty much the most insightful and intelligent "comment" (pasted below) I've seen on Facebook this week, following the election of Donald Trump as United States President. (Adam and I both voted third party by the way.)
Posted below in its entirety, I asked Adam to come on tonight and "unpack" his views in more detail for us. He did a bang up job! Wow, just wow!!   LISTEN to ARCHIVE  /  ALL Program Archives Ep 1-28

"So Trump won I hear, and I like everyone else feel compelled to post about it. First of all I'm not a Trump supporter so let's get that out of the way.

"I'll be honest though I see some silver lining in his election. Those would be improvement in our relations with Russia which is a new cold war started first under Bush and fostered under Obama's watch and the repeal of the terrible legislation and the disaster that has been Obamacare. I'm actually happy about those two aspects for several different reasons.

"All that being said I still believe that Trump is an extreme egoist, An egoist whose gigantic narcissism compelled him to run for the highest office in the land. His position on immigration alone was enough to turn me off from ever casting my vote for him and his constant baiting and fear mongering of his base will continue to have consequences in the days,weeks, months and years to come. His support of torture, his emphasis on "law and order" and his various statements that he "loves war" are enough to make small government libertarians such as myself shudder.

"Now on to Hillary. Yet another egoist and truly power hungry politician. I've disliked her since the 90s when Bill had his fun with Monica and she stood by her man. Why did she stand by her man? Because he was the gateway to jump start her political career. Her absolute, almost psychotic, desire to be President probably hurt, and possibly killed, many in it's wake. She was so unlikable that she had to recruit her good buddy Donald to look as bad as possible for her to look good. It was deeply satisfying to watch her go down in flames on Tuesday night to see it all backfire in her face.

"So all day I have been watching many of my friends on the Democratic side wail and gnash their teeth about the loss of Clinton and the election of Donald Trump. I've read many of these posts and some of their fears are valid and some are not. After mulling over these posts I've realized one important lesson today. So many of my younger friends have embraced a very progressive, liberal mindset and agenda. To each their own but what I have realized is that this mindset truly trades liberty for security. They want to be secure and they want to be taken care of all their lives. That really is not liberty. It is authoritarianism. Granted it is a far kinder and maybe benevolent form than that of Mr. Trump's but it is Authoritarianism none the less.

"The question I ask is this. Was the choice we had in 2016 one between Fascists on one side and Communists on the other? Have we really gotten that bad in this nation that now we have to choose between two extremes just like Weimar Germany? If the answer to those questions are truly yes than there really is no hope for Democracy. Do we continue to fight each other until our Republic is replaced by an Empire? Are we really that close?

Those questions are what propelled me to vote for Gary Johnson not because I'm altogether happy with him as a candidate but because the Libertarian Party was the closest that came to my political philosophy. The only party that truly represented at least some vestige of truly liberal (in the classical sense) democracy. And no I did not help get Trump elected by voting my conscience.

"I'll end with this and this is how I view the election of Donald J Trump. 

"In Robert Graves' book "Claudius the God" the sequel to "I, Claudius" the Roman Emperor Claudius is convinced to marry his niece, Agripina whom he despises. His niece's son is Nero. Claudius realizes that he will allow Agripina to poison him and he will leave the imperial seat to Nero. Claudius realizes and hopes that Nero will be such a terrible ruler (he was) that the Roman people will abolish the empire and reestablish the Republic. I believe that the phrase that enters Claudius' mind is apt to our situation:"Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud hatch out..."

"This is what will happen with Trump. All the bad things that have been laying under the surface will come up. And when the dust settles from this maybe we can put this country back on track."   - Adam Sayne
