One more token, BTTsteemCreated with Sketch.

I fully accept that I need to do more research into the matter, but at the same time, it seems to me that this move is somewhat dangerous, even with the limited information I may have at the moment. I mean, let's face it, one of the things that crypto has to fight is the bad reputation, and the alignment so to speak with Bittorrent might not be "the move" to help the situation.

But as it happens sometimes, I would like to be wrong here and see this direction workout for the best. I may be showing my age, dropping my wallet as they say, but this stigma that we are fighting pretty much reminds me of the early days of the internet.

In the 90's when I was participating of MIRC for example, going to meet someone you had met online was seen as acting suicidal or something. You are gonna do what? - But today, its normal, people even get married after meeting online, and to the new generations this is so normalized the very idea that the "internet is evil" is just funny, but I remember those days.

So maybe, my concern that now crypto will be closely linked with piracy is valid but only temporarily so, if that makes any sense at all. The specifics on how this new token will work are not clear at the moment, but I suspect something akin to a paywall is probably going to be built. You hold tokens, you get higher bandwidth, premium services, so on and so forth. If this is the case, a wallet containing a lot of tokens could be seen as a "pirate's wallet"... maybe. Do you see where I'm coming from?

Again, maybe this is going to work out awesome, maybe the tokens will "moon" as they say, and the aidrops will be welcomed by the different communities too. At any rate, it probably matters little for us Americans since we are being skipped for obvious reasons.

After all, Tron may be one of those long term winners.... it just may...

Sort:

Perception is already not that great with crypto for most of us in the US because of the centralized organizations focused to control our digital lives. The push towards decentralization and privacy will move forward no matter what!

So according to me this is something wrong done by Justin sun they have to think about how they can widely used their own trx token so if suppose in future btt have better utilisation of the token instead of tron then Tron price will be reduce and it will impact long holder of Tron token let's see what will done by them they have to think how they can better utilise trx in other ways like bnb token is doing right now

I tried to comment earlier but Partiko wasn't letting me for some reason. Since then I took a skim through the white paper for this since your post peaked my interest.

After looking through this briefly, I see that it is a way to incentivize people to leave files on their computers longer in order to seed to other users, creating files that will last longer and will be faster to download. I am guilty of deleting files when I'm done with them even though I know I should be sharing for a little while to allow the seed to spread. I initially thought they might be able to implement some sort of royalty payment to the author of each file, maybe they can, but it doesn't look like that's in their plan right now (or maybe I missed it).

I think the problem with this whole "pirate" thing was just created by a bunch of rich businessmen lobbying the government. They basically had a little temper-tantrum because they weren't making as much money as they could because someone found a way to share files on a large scale. Nobody cared back in the day when you made a mix-tape on a cassette for a friend. But because BitTorrent can do the same thing on a large scale, the greedy got mad. Since the early days of Napster, companies have adapted and are now charging for subscriptions to their files. This makes sense for larger organizations who can afford to pay, but really hurts the hobbyist who just wants to touch up photos on his spare time with something like Photoshop. But now, people are finding ways around that as well. Things are becoming more and more open-source and communities are building their own programs for everyone to use.

I'd imagine in another 10 years or something internet speeds will be so fast and hopefully, things can be so decentralized that everyone can have access to every song, video, or program for free while also earning some income for having the program on their computer to share to others with a percentage of that going to the author of each file. Calling BitTorrent "piracy" is just people trying to keep things how they were instead of moving towards change to empower everyone with these tools we now have. We just have to find a model that can benefit everyone and that can't happen keeping things how they were.

interesting, i guess its completely possible and i wont rule it out of course... seems like we are headed that way honestly.
