My Place in the World - Haiku - When in Doubt, Look Within

My place in the world
and within the universe
is within myself

It's funny that, for someone who has been meditating for as long as I have, over forty years and counting, I occasionally have to remind myself to simply slow down and breathe.

I got a good reminder of that tonight, when pulling into our driveway and getting ready to back into my place by the back porch, when I surprised a red fox that had been hiding in the tall grasses and went running headlong into the woods.

There are times when I've been stressed out enough to miss such things, or at least to fail to really register them when they occur, but tonight, it simply made me happy, to see one of our wildlings clearly thriving, and just as clearly not in our poultry enclosure, and thus not wreaking havoc. ;-)

Yesterday marked the seventh anniversary of our closing on this property, which simply boggles my mind, as it seems like yesterday when we packed up and moved here . . . and it seems like worlds and universes ago.

So much has changed since we left Florida, we've lost people and animals we dearly loved, and haven't been together nearly as much as we would have liked.

And yet, at the same time, when in doubt,, all answers can be found within. When in doubt . . . go within. Your gut - your higher self - and mine - will never steer us wrong, but will answer our questions honestly, which is to say frequently more honestly than we might prefer.

In the end, life is wonderful, and getting better, better, and better. And I'm guessing that the red fox might agree with that assessment. ;-)

Half the liquid proceeds earned from my posts will be evenly split between the two organizations.

The photo above were taken by me on 16 March 2012, of one of our red foxes hightailing it down our driveway and across the street, most likely using my Canon SX 30 iS camera.

The blurred background, highlighting our two mailboxes, gives a good indication of her speed at the time this was taken.
