Uber for bikesharing lets cyclists drop off anywhere [Shanghai]
Sourced from Springwise
Heard of the Parisian Vélib’, London’s “Boris Bikes” or New York’s Citi Bikes? Well they're all municipal bicycle sharing systems that have become a big hit in those cities!
Now this may not be breaking news but the number of cities worldwide offering such services is edging up towards a thousand. But the main problem so far has been how to return the bike to the original location - a bit of a chore if you've taken a long ride somewhere.

But an enterprising new app has come up with a snazzy solution - riders now have the chance to lock and leave the bikes anywhere they choose.
It's no surprise that this solution has come from a former Uber employee Davis Wang (the Founder of Mobike) which takes advantage of technology to enable free cruising.
Like Uber, Mobike works through an app, on which riders can find and book nearby bikes. Once located, bikes are unlocked with a QR code, and the journey comes to an end when the lock is attached once more.
Shanghai has nearly 10,000 Mobike bicycles already on the streets, the startup’s smart tech could see them disrupting a saturated cycle-hire market.
