Tree Tuesday: White Birch
A post for Tree Tuesday hosted by @old-guy-photos.
One of my favorite deciduous trees is the birch with it’s white bark that stands out attractively in the landscape.
Looking upwards when the foliage is on the birch.
Trees have many healing properties that were used by our ancestors. A lot of the ancient knowledge has been lost with the use of pharmaceuticals.
Besides it’s use as firewood, the birch has other benefits.
A tea can be made from the leaves of the birch.
The tree can be tapped for the sap which is reputed to have healing properties.
The birch tree helps take the pollutions out of the air, especially what is generated by vehicle traffic.
The bark of the birch can be dried, flattened and used for writing and drawing such as this one I have on my wall. These were done by Hubs years ago.

Howdy there redheadpei! What an interesting post. I see birch trees occassionally down here and they stick out like a neon sign! lol..and they look great so a whole forest of them would be beautiful. I like those wall hangings, I've never seen any done from the bark before. Those are some really good photos too!
