#treetuesday hosted by @old-guy-photos

Be sure to check @old-guy-photos' post A Tree-rific Tree Tuesday for more interesting #treetuesday posts!!!

Two days ago - while driving home from a walk with @dog-marley - I said to @psionic-tremors: "Since I'm participating in the #treetuesday posts I am much more attentive to my surroundings.
No matter if I'm walking or driving - I always take a close look around if there is a good motive for the #treetuesday post.

Actually, I could not find one this week ... but @psionic-tremors did and was happy to share the shots with me for this post.
Thanks a lot!!!

What happened to this tree?

This might not have a good ending for three. It's completely besieged by some kind of insects.
The first thing I thought about were spiders because of the webs.
But then I thought it might be caterpillars - they can also build webs.

Look at the contrast - white in the front and green around.

Old Gypsy Moth nests perhaps?

I had to look up the Old Gypsy Moth ... and there is indeed a pretty good chance you are right.
I will keep an eye on this tree how it develops ... but maybe they are all gone from one day to the other?
Well, I'll keep on checking :)

I could be wrong, but it looks like the occupants of the nests are long gone and the nests are older.
