TreeTuesday - Totem Pole at Beacon Hill Park

Totem Pole.jpg

I decided to be a little bit creative with my first submission for TreeTuesday. Totem poles are trees that have been turned into art.

This is by far the tallest totem pole I have ever seen and it turns out it's actually the tallest free standing totem pole in the world. It is 39 metres tall (127 foot 7 inch) and it was made from a cedar that was 40.5 metres (133 foot). It was made for the Beacon Hill Park by local artists and has been restored several times.

The Beacon Hill Park totem pole is an impressive work of art and a good use of the tree that it was made up of.
