A few weeks ago, I was cleaning my porch and getting ready to plant when I saw a dove fussing with my triple-tiered planter, trying to arrange a few twigs into a home sweet home. While it is a little inconvenient, it has been so fun watching them pop from their eggs and grow into healthy little doves. Nature sure is amazing.

Spring is all around, and Mother Nature has been busy. The magnolia tree is legendary, heralded for their large, beautiful flowers, and the sweetness of their fragrance. Hail Spring, for the magnolia is in bloom!
Mighty oaks from little acorns grow
14th-century proverb speaks of the huge potential in small things, not only speaking of the mighty oak itself but, life in general.
Once upon a time, these boards were a tree, and now they are merely a means to keep the cows inside the pasture. A tree that is not nearly a tree any longer. And of course, the pasture has trees all around it to give those poor cows a little bit of shade when the summer comes.
Speaking of the Mighty Oak? This was at Arlington Cemetery and I imagine that this oak was but a tiny thought when it was planted. It is almost a memory now.

I always post this poem down at the bottom of my posts. It is one that has become so near and dear to my heart. I only post the most famous part of it, but, wanted to post it in its entirety today.
they set my aunts house on fire
i cried the way women on tv do
folding at the middle
like a five pound note.
i called the boy who use to love me
tried to ‘okay’ my voice
i said hello
he said warsan, what’s wrong, what’s happened?
i’ve been praying,
and these are what my prayers look like;
dear god
i come from two countries
one is thirsty
the other is on fire
both need water.
later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,
"everywhere"

You know I love all of your photos. But certain ones are gems among the gems. The one of the Civil War soldier is just that. I am sitting here in the parking lot with a trunk full of milk that will spoil if I don't get going, yet even so that one grips me. It says so much about the brevity of life, the way the universe recycles, and how with us or without us, the show of life must go on.
Thank you so much. I didn't really have a place to put him, so I thought this was a good place, being as how it is about trees. :)
The first time I saw it, it really freaked me out and I wondered why his grave wasn't moved all those years ago. Now, he is almost part of the tree... and yes! It does say so much about the brevity of life and Mother Earth reusing, recycling and moving on....

How special to have the dove choose you to be close to when it nests. I think birds and brooding mothers know who they can trust to be near their young. A beautiful #treetuesday contribution, Denise:)
Thank you so much, Pryde. She was very trusting. I couldn't believe she was right up on the window of my office and so she had a view of the inside as it was a triple-tiered pot. I have no idea why she let me video her feeding her babies and everything. It has been pretty amazing to watch live tv like this.

Hi @dswigle, I love the dove in the nest, great shot. But the one in the cemetery is a beauty. Just think of the energy of that tree in that grave.
Oh, thank you so much! How kind you are and I so much appreciate it! The dove has been so patient with us as we press our noses on the window and are inches from the nest. She has let us watch her feed them and I watched them fledge today.
The grave was something I would never have believed is someone told me that the tree is swallowing the grave whole.

Magnolia in bloom what a lovely perfume to fill the garden, little dove is very much at home in the hanging basket, she won't take long and will be off with her brood Denise.
Big oak tree is quite a sight with the headstone becoming enveloped into it's roots.
You were right!!! The dove is soooo quick and they are already gone! They fledged that same day! Can you believe it? They were one week old and boom! Gone!
I am amazed and it was a pretty nice experience right so close and all. Thank you for peeking in on me!
The oak was truly sensational, taking it back to the earth like that!

I think that photo of the headstone is imbedded in my memory and always will be
I agree with you! There are a couple in Arlington Cemetery that are like that and they are all from the Civil War era. I am aware that the tree was probably planted long ago and far away so, but I cannot believe that they did not move the grave when mother nature started taking over.
The Earth is taking back what was once hers.
Maybe the family did not want it moved, who knows but in some ways it is cool, I know if it happened to be in hopefully the long distant future my grave and i saw it like this I thinkII would smile and say leave it be, but maybe that is just me being weird

I love the dove! I remember hearing them when i was kid and it's such a peaceful sound :)
It was so cool to have her so up close and personal while she was caring for the kids! We really took advantage of having nature that close and got a lot of videos!

This is so wonderful! Spring, doves, flowers and a very special picture capturing a moment, that of the tombstone in the tree. Beautiful!
Thank you so much for your always kind thoughts and words. The doves fledged already and she was here this morning trying to build a new nest! Oh my God mama! I want my three-tiered flower thing back so I can plant.

It blows my mind with the tombstone. I'm in love with that picture. So much meaning that comes with it.
Oh I'm really okay with it although the first time she did it I freaked out because I was just starting to put my plants in pots. In actuality doves do not take that long and that surprised me that there is a such a short-lived Nursery. From the time they hatched until they fledged was only about a week maybe 8 days. It shocked me when I watch them take off and they never came back!
