Observation Night and Walk around the Sydney
Hey ho, finally a post about Australia - well, my photos from other adventures are trapped at the moment and I am "stuck" at work! But it is not so bad, let's start with a song currently playing and continue with this post.
Observer's log: 5:10 am - after I've done everything that is up to me - setting up the telescope, calibrating and switching the scheduled source list (and reading bunch of papers), and managed not to fuck it up in the process! Nothing is up to me anymore, but there's no clouds, rain nor wind detected on the observation site - and hopefully until 08:00 everything will go smoothly but until that, I still have 3 hours to sit, read, chill - do something to kill the time. Let's start with a
Why not write a post, that's always a good idea! :)
This is how it looks like basically after setting everything up, all I need to do is monitor things to be in the normal range, and usually, there is some kind of beep alarm and highlights of the troubles. But enough of that - Australia!
It's been 3 months since I landed here and damn they went so fast, but that's a good thing I guess, lots of work, lots of learning and beautiful things already happened.
So, my first trip to Sydney and the center went pretty much awesome, just looking around - just another new boy in town. Went to Hyde Park and had enough time on my own to gather some thoughts, relax and enjoy some nice Australian weather (well it was at that point), still can't complain.
Basically, I had big plans for that day but... Everything is so stretched and far away, and for someone who likes to get from A to B by walking - well ends up being time-consuming. Anyways, next stop Sydney Opera House, but on my way there, just outside the park, I stumbled upon this church still defying the time, urbanism and capitalism.
Finally reached the monumental building - and yes, I knew how it looks like, it's big and nice, and awesome and everything... but when I saw it, my first reaction was something like: "WOW, FUCK, THIS IS HUGE - AND REALLY WONDERFUL"
Then I took the ferry through the Sydney bay - and went to Manly beach, well I just wanted to take a ride and enjoy some watery views - but before that another view at the Opera House.
My primary plan was to get to some viewpoint nearby, but that changed a bit, and wanted to do it on the way back, but time passes by so fast when you have no idea where you are and everything looks interesting. :) Anyways, went to that viewpoint (the bridge one) some other day - and it was too expensive - charging for a nice view over $100... no thanks.
Anyways, as expected so many sailing boats were around and I just love them, and the light reflections, beautiful.
In the upcoming posts, there should be some landscapes, and ocean and a bit more nature and fewer buildings.
Cheers!

That last photo is really awesome.
Wow, absolutely breathtaking photos!!!
The Opera House should definitely be photographed only by night :)
It's dangerous to go out during the night.... there are flying cockroaches and dragons and every little thing that tries to kill you :)
Some beautiful shot you Shared
