The second attraction, which you can't miss on Phuket Island! [2 of 5]
There is religious freedom in Thailand, but it is Buddhism, to be precise Buddhism theravāda, which is the main and most common religion.
It is estimated that this type of Buddhism is practiced by about 90% of the local community.
That is why Buddhist temples are considered to be the most important and well-known symbol of Thailand.
All over Phuket you will find 29 of them, of which Wat Chalong is the largest one.
During the trip to this place I took many pictures because I found something that amazed me at every step! I am curious whether these views will also astonish you.

The whole complex consists of several temples and a beautiful courtyard with well-kept gardens.
The place was built in honor of Buddhist monks who had treated here the local people in the past. That is why these temples have been named places of miracles and healings.

A holy relic, a fragment of the Buddha's bone, is also kept here.
You can see it on the very top of the main temple, in a glass capsule surrounded by numerous valuables and gifts that pilgrims offer here.
Remember to remove your shoes and properly cover your body when you enter the temples.
Entrance to the buildings is free, but in many places you can make a voluntary donation, which will be used for the upkeep of the complex.
There are also many lazily lying cats around the place. Both the locals and the Monks take care of them by feeding them and respecting their space.
There is also an enclosed "kiln" where tourists can fire noisy petards, which are sold for the benefit of nearby stands. :)
Their noise is supposed to scare off evil spirits. To be honest, I think that this is a clever way of getting extra money to maintain this large object.
If you have the opportunity, take a look here also after dark.
Although some temples may already be closed, they are still surrounded by a relaxed atmosphere, which you can enjoy without the participation of noisy visitors.
The buildings are beautifully illuminated so it will be not only a celebration for your soul but also for the eyes.
