RE: Feeling a world-class heritage under my feet

What an amazing post you have created here for us @macoolette! As a supporter of your work, I "stop by" from time to time, but never feel I have much to offer by way of commenting on your Tasteem posts. This one was just spectacular!!

Thanks for taking us on this journey. Remarkable, if I am understanding part of what you wrote here, that this part of your country is without electric power. All these people then live much as they have for centuries before the advent of electric power?

And the amazing work required ...

"I think this is what makes the terraces very popular given the thought of diligence and industriousness of those who made them."

... is certainly a testament to what it takes for these people to live in what appears to be a pretty rugged part of the world. I really liked the picture (all of them are great!) showing the flowing stream between the terraced walls, as this gives us an idea of the detail involved in all of their work over time. Wow!!

Thanks again for this great effort. When do we get to hear about "Tomorrow is another day for the hike to Tappiya Falls."? 😊

Until next time, all the best to you "over there!"

P.S. Resteemed so that others may have the opportunity to experience your great effort here!

Hi there @roleerob! Thank you very much for your kind words.

There is supply of electricity from the school all the way down to the main village. Though the locals said that there is a more remote place about two hours hike from there and that is where there is no electricity.

The main village alone is already very remote so I take that yes, it is possible that the people there have experienced no electricity before lines were laid across the mountains.

The terraced walls are the most challenging to maintain with these rice terraces specially during rainy season when there can be landslides. I remember my father repairing the riprap when I was a child. It was hard looking for boulders and he did it all manually.

I hope the hike to Tappita Falls will be done this coming week. Let's see...

Thanks again for all your support. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and have a great week ahead! 😊
