Isla de Coiba - 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge @czechglobalhosts

This is our entry for the Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans photocontest from @czechglobalhosts.
This magnificent beach is on the Isla de Coiba in Panama. In the past this island was used as a prison for heavy criminals. Today the National Park is a declared world heritage site by UNESCO, because of its rich marine and terrestrial biodiversity. Because of this, Isla de Coiba is often referred to as the 'Galapagos of Panama'. If you go diving there, sharks are (almost) guaranteed. If you are lucky, you might even spot a whale shark or a hammerhead. We only saw some white tips though. Diving tours are organised from Santa Catalina. A day trip consists of 2-3 dives with a break on the island between the dives. But beware - there are crocodiles near the beaches, so keep your eyes open! ;)

Das ist unser Beitrag zum Fotowettbewerb "7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans" von @czechglobalhosts. Dieser wunderschöne Strand ist auf der Isla de Coiba in Panama. Früher war dies eine Gefängnisinsel für Schwerkriminelle, heute ist der Nationalpark UNESCO Welterbe. Aufgrund seiner großen marinen und terrestrischen Biodiversität, wird der Nationalpark Coiba auch als "Galapagos von Panama" bezeichnet. Wenn man hier tauchen geht, sind Haie (fast) immer garantiert. Wenn man richtig viel Glück hat, kann man auch Walhaie oder Hammerhaie sehen. Wir haben leider nur Whitetips gesehen. Tagesausflüge werden von Santa Catalina aus angeboten und bestehen aus 2-3 Tauchgängen, sowie Landaufenthalten dazwischen. Aber aufgepasst - es gibt einige Krokodile, welche sich gerne in Strandnähe aufhalten. Also immer Augen auf! ;)
