Paris through my eyes
I have visited Paris many times and I can honestly say that I never liked it. I tried and tried and tried, but I couldn't see its charms that I expected after reading some books about romance in this city...
It was a dirty and smelly city with too many tourists and arrogant people, or this is how I perceived it.
I visited all popular sites such as the Eiffel tower, the Sacré-Coeur, the Notre Dame, the Louvre and many more.
Eiffel tower was just a big metal pointy thing which was so crowded that you couldn't move at all, the area of Sacré-Coeur was full of beggars and people trying to sell you their useless armbands, there are so many cathedrals that are more beautiful than the Notre Dame and Mona Lisa in the Louvre is so small, far away from you and behind the glass that you can't appreciate its detail anyway. And I could go on and on...
However a friend of mine loves Paris and convinced me to go there one more time. We agreed that we will not visit any popular sites but we will try to soak up the atmosphere of this so called most romantic city in the world. And so we did...
I must admit that I've started to appreciate Paris after this experience...
It's a perfect city for walking around. You just need a city map and you're ready to go. If you prefer, you can take a metro too but I didn't like it as it's too complicated and you always get out somewhere else that you actually wanted to. I would recommend you to take a taxi as it's surprisingly cheap.
We spent three days in Paris and walked almost 80000 steps in total.
It was relaxing to walk around without paying attention to any architectural or historical gems.
I took so many photos without knowing what I exactly photographed. I simply did it because I enjoyed it, not because I had to have it for my collection to show to my family or friends.
I enjoyed this kind of a city trip but it is not for everyone. Some people love to know every small details about the place that they visit. I like it too! But as I've been there so many times already I truly appreciated to relax.
We spent a lot of time in cafes and ate our body weight in croissants. We also just sat down on a bench and observed people like on this photo.
It was a beautiful autumn day, perfect for being outside.
And we were not the only ones relaxing. I remember that I was feeling like a local person...
Looks like a lot of people but believe me that it's nothing in comparison to the popular sites.
Do you ever look up to see the details on the buildings? Try it next time!
All buildings look like palaces. It's all monumental and so very well decorated...
This was my favorite part - kids forgetting their surroundings and enjoying being sprayed with water during a particularly hot autumn day.
Did you know that Paris had beautiful cemeteries? We came across this one which is not that far away from the Eiffel tower (or so they say).
During the third day of our stay it started to rain and the temperature went down drastically. We were not ready for such weather and had to do some shopping (well, it was a good excuse to do some shopping anyway). We went to The Galeries Lafayette which is the most spectacular shopping mall that I have ever seen. It could easily be an Opera house as well!
I can say that this trip has changed my opinion about Paris. I have finally seen the other part of the city - the part that tourists don't see as they are busy with sightseeing. I will try it in other cities too! And I might come back to Paris again 😊
I hope that you have liked my photos!
Thank you for visiting!
Cheers!
