Monkeying Around With Steemians in Batu Caves

in #travelfeed6 years ago (edited)

Watch this video if you just want to see the video version of this:

I had the best day in the world exploring Batu Caves in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia with some of the nicest and most fun people I've ever met! And all because of Steemit!

I got to hang out with @joannewong @aaronleang and @macchiata which is lucky for me because all 3 of them are just super awesome. I'm so thankful that they were nice enough to show @macchiata and me around!! THANK YOU!!

The first thing you see when you get to the caves is beautiful tall rocks with palm trees and flowers:

And then the unbelievably huge Murugan statue with 272 stairs behind it (yeah I'm just trusting @aaronleang on this. I would have said 758 stairs just to make it seems impressive, but I guess lying on the blockchain and in general, is bad, hehe).

We had to stop to take pictures together on the steps. Pictures on the stairs are VERY important (Actually, we stopped because we are out of shape and tired...but too embarrassed to admit it. So, taking pictures is a good cover, right?!? No one will ever know that we're tired already hehe).

I'm not looking at the camera because I got distracted by the best surprise ever...

...the place has a TON of monkeys everywhere!! I've always loved monkeys, even though they're jerks, but never had the chance to touch one before. Here, they come up to you and touch you if you have food for them!

I'm sorry this monkey was being inappropriate and didn't cover himself. He really needs pants. What can I say, monkeys really don't have good manners.

Here's another monkey that needs manners. He stole peanuts from me, which is rude. He owes me 6 Ringgit (Malaysian $$$):

I came for the caves, but I think the rude monkeys ended up being my favorite part. Their hands feel like little human baby hands. Is it so bad to just want to hold hands with a monkey?

Also, here's is the version from the point of view of @aaronleang ...check out his post as well. He got some good candid shots that I love: https://steemit.com/meetup/@aaronleang/meetup-13-batu-caves-tour-steem-burger-lunch

Thanks again for so much fun and laughter! Terima Kasih! #TeamMalaysia is the best!

@travelfeed thanks so much for reposting this!!!!! So exciting!!!! I've never had that happen before. YAY thanks so much!!! :)

Awesome, and yes sneaky monkeys! 🙈 glad you and @macchiata enjoy the Batu Caves tour.

Welcome to Malaysia! :D You should try feeding the monkeys durian, I wonder would they take it from you. Haha

They would take it because they want their feet to smell like durian

There's something about you, durian, feet and monkeys.... Hahaha

@nomadicsoul, The video quality is remarkable! I really love hanging out with all of you but sad, I have to go back for the class!

I am looking forward for my second visit!

Aw thank you so much! Terima kasih

Great post @nomadicsoul thanks for sharing. Monkeys are definitely an entertaining sight....even though they can certainly be unapologetically "rude" (haha). I think the trickiest thing about monkeys is that they are so charismatic that forgiving their aggressions is easy. Which is exactly what they are counting on when they are plotting to steal your peanuts for instance;0)

I know right? They hold your hand and look up at you with puppy dog eyes just for some nuts.

I can't resist puppy dog/monkey eyes

Oh my goodness you're so right!!! They tricked me into forgiving them with their charisma and cute faces! It's hard to stay mad when they hold your hand all sweetly (but really they're just trying to steal a nut haha) l. Thank you!

I guess you forgot to add the nsfw tag since the monkey are not on pants? Haha

I love that taking picture on the stairs to cover up for the tiredness, more like crying on the rain.

You guys really had fun @nomadicsoul

Hahahaha I should add that tag!!! Wish you were there to join us!

Me too. I will teleport myself next time. 😀😁

Haha you really should. Why didn't you think of that sooner? Lol.

I will give it a try next time. Just holla me then.

lol the monkey was sitting so inappropriately. it makes me laugh.

Glad it makes you laugh! It me laugh too

i always pass by the area when i'm studying there but never once visited the place T.T

No way!!!! You need to go!!!

yea would love too, its on my bucket list even thou i know it will be a bad idea, i'm already out of breath going up the 3rd floor at my work place, and thats only around like 30 steps i think , cant imagine a 272 one .. i seriously need to shape up

haha it's okay to take a break for "photos" if you need to! :)

wow! be delighted with your photographs

Yay I'm so glad you like them! 😀

without great I congratulate you
