It's so lucky that the Nationalists bought so many artifacts over with them otherwise most might have been likely to be destroyed during the cultural revolution.
It's terrible how many victims the cultural revolution in China has claimed. You're right, many chinese art treasures were saved from total destruction by bringing them to Taiwan 20 years ago.
