On my way back to Islamabad from Sargodha I observed some bird activity on a water pond near Bhera. I stopped there and explored the area. I was delighted to see a large number of water birds there. As this was some private land and also had fence around it so I was not able to go closer but still I managed to take some photographs of birds living there.
Common Snipe
Common Snipe, one of my favorite birds to photograph. The common snipe is a small bird also called woodcock or snipe. I have seen this bird many times and mostly found it along water bank.
Marsh Sandpiper
The marsh sandpiper is a small wader. A very common bird found all over Pakistan specially in Punjab wetland areas.
Common Greenshank
The common greenshank is also a wader. It looks like a Marsh Sandpiper but its beak is longer and a little bit curved.
Spotted Redshank
The spotted redshank is also a wader. This bird has gorgeous red beak, red legs and white line on eye is very prominent.
Green Sandpiper
The green sandpiper is a small wader and very common bird in Punjab.
Wood Sandpiper
The wood sandpiper is a small wader and mostly found with green sandpiper.
River Tern
River Tern a very common bird in Punjab and is found every where. It mostly lives near water pond and spends most of its time flying around and spotting fish in water.
White-Tailed Lapwing
The white-tailed lapwing is a wader. This medium-sized bird is long-legged and long-billed. It is not common in Punjab and is seen in low numbers. I was excited to see these birds there as they are lifer for me.
Marsh Harrier
The marsh harriers are birds of prey. They are very common and are medium-sized raptors. They are mostly found around grassland and flying low and finding the food.
