Such a stunning State Library of Victoria in Melbourne!
Today I'll tell you about our visit to the State Library Victoria. Although we had heard some great experience from others about the library, but when we were inside (the entrance is free!) We were really excited about the great architecture! Especially for people who are interested in architecture of buildings, the library is an absolute must! The State Library is a 19th-century building with beautiful heritage interiors. Especially the La Trobe Reading Room is a library highlight because of its majestic domed ceiling. Although the comparison might sound a bit strange and it was much brighter there, the library reminded me a bit of the Harry Potter movies and the architecture of the buildings. Maybe it's just because it was an old building;) It was definitely brighter and roomier than in the movies.
A few facts about the library: It was built in 1854 in the Victorian style and is in the Victorian Heritage Register. It is located in Melbourne's northern business district. There are two million books here! In addition, we also visited the Cowen Gallery. Cowen Gallery showcases works from the Library's paintings collection. The current Gallery includes portraits and landscapes, and historical and contemporary works. Because the library and gallery are right next to each other, it is a good idea to stop by there. All in all, I would definitely visit the library again! There was such a special atmosphere there. It was very quiet, especially many students have learned there and it seemed a bit mysterious because of the architecture. But if you do not have too much time I would definitely recommend the library first to visit!
