The south of England, From Dover to Cornwall!

in #travelfeed6 years ago

From the mainland Calais, France we took the ferry to Dover, GBR.

This was the beginning of our trip to Cornwall in England. Allthough we live pretty close to Great Britain, this was the first time we went to the island. England is known for it's rainy days, so it isn't a first pick when choosing a country to visit in summer. This year was different though, we were up for something new.

White cliffs of Dover are truly stunning from the ferry. You can visit them fairly easily and hear about the great stories of this white wall.

Another Bloody Castle

Shortly before arriving we noticed the White Cliffs of Dover. Great Britain has a lot of history and by that, a lot of castles. In fact, somebody asked me if we already did the "ABC-tour". Also known as the Another Bloody Castle tour.
This castle in particular we found on our way to Portsmouth. Luckily it was gorgeous and had a nice garden full of flowers and play areas around it. That way we didn't have to do any more castles, I'm not that into history anyway.

Portsmouth

In Portsmouth we met with some friends who have a yaught and crossed the North sea to enjoy some free time in GBR. They took us out of the harbour to sail and have a good view on the skyline of the UK. It felt nice to do something different then we normally do. It may be needless to say that we don't own a boat, esspecialy a yaught. They did not just show us perfect views and a different scenery, but they also took great care of us. The food was perfect, champagne was flowing and after we had our second glass I forgot about sailing all over again.

The amazing colors of Cornwall

Cornwall is the most southwestern district of England. It a location which has a subtropical climate and less rainy days. Sounds perfect to us... and so it was. It was exceptional! This happend to be the word we heard everywhere. Cornwall has one of the best waves you can find in GBR. I planned to give it a go as much as I could. However, these two weeks where exceptional and so there weren't any waves at all. Bummer!
Instead the weather was sunny, no wind and most of all, no rain. So we took a visit to Lands End. The most western point of Europe (probably not for long given the Brexit will proceed). A perfect opportunity to shoot some colorful photo's of the beautiful rock formations and St. Ives.
