HELI SKIING ADVENTURE in The Swiss Alps
I’ve watched numerous marvelous short movies about crazy skiers jumping from helicopters and drawing beautiful lines in the snow powder in some completely inaccessible gorgeous places and I’ve always wanted to try it. Actually I am amazed by all kinds of extreme sports, it is incredible what our bodies are capable of doing once we just start consistently trigger them.. So several years ago I started doing this with mine and step by step I succeed to build a strong body that allowed me to try some of these things that seemed only like dreams. Not exactly like in these short movies, but still I’ve experienced some great adventures and I also realized how much harder than it looks are these movie scenes and what tremendous amount of efforts is required.
One of these adventures is heli sking. It turned out it could be done in some simpler ways, there are routes for skier with different levels of experience, without the jumping part and without the avalanche chasing you (like in the movies) but it is quite a challenge and an adventure, because freeride skiing requires excellent physical condition.
And the landscapes and the peace out there high in the mountains are so breathtaking and a priceless reward for all the efforts :)
Our day started with that beautiful view of Verbier. Fortunately the weather is perfect.
So they gave us backpacks with avalanche backpacks, a guide, and the pilot left us somewhere in the middle of nowhere above 4000m asl.
The pilot’s suitcase. Born to fly - me too!
Video of the heli flying.
Before we started our descent back to Verbier, we made a few photos with Mont Blank in the background.
After that we started our ski journey back to Verbier. It was a long one, so we needed to stop a lot of times, which was great because we could make a lot of photos.
This was one of the most beautiful days in my life :). We live on an amazing planet! We get back to Verbier soo exhausted, but this is the most sweet
fatigue after spectacular mountain day. Later our guide told us that the same day, an avalanche took the life of a heli skier, client of another heli ski company, super close to our route. It was sad and strange to hear this, I thought it was safe with the guide and the equipment, it turned out it was not. I was grateful that everything went smooth for us.
Thank you for checking out my blog!
Daniela, these photos are stunning. The mountain in that helicopter video looks so rugged and beautiful. You have a new follower! :-)
Also gave you a re-steem!

can't ski
so kudos for being so cool chic brave :D
unfortunately, I'm seem to be banned in the post promotion others channel so I can't send this there ...
let's hope @curie gives you a read :)
Thank you very much 🙏
That's crazy that someone died so close to your route. Glad you made it out ok. It looks like an incredible adventure. I've always liked the solitude and quiet of skiing, especially backcountry. Heli skiing must be even more peaceful. (Although avalanches are another reason not to yell.)
Did anyone happen to get GoPro footage of the descent?
Only smartphone photos, nothing else..
The mountain silence.. I am melting just thinking about it :) I miss the mountains now so much :)
Thank you for you comment
Living our dreams is the best way to get High :)
И тревата върши работа :D
и това е вярно :)
Something about the stark white of the snow against the blue sky appeals to me. Looks like a great adventure. I don’t ski, but if I did I think heli-skiiing would be cool! Another good post D.
Great post @danielaptk
Dang, that looks like such a cool adventure. Jumping out of helicopters (almost) must have been such a rush. And out there in the middle of nowhere with just a small group? Awesome stuff. Curious as to what prompted you to go off into the middle of the mountains for a ski adventure?
Thank you for your comment!
We had a swiss guide who knew the place pretty well. It was really a cool adventure! I like adrenaline, I just feel more alive doing scary things.. Adrenaline junky maybe..
Hehe, works for me. Do we really always need deep reasons to do the things we do?
Lovely post
Wow that looks like so much fun!
